Job Description
As an EHS Manager, you will lead environmental, health, safety, process safety, compliance, emergency response, and continuous improvement programs to reduce risk, prevent incidents, and ensure regulatory compliance. This is a direct-hire opportunity.
  • Lead site EHS strategy and day-to-day execution activities
  • Coach leaders and teams to identify hazards, reduce risk, and strengthen EHS culture
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, transportation, and security regulations and internal requirements
  • Maintain required documentation and records
  • Serve as the primary site contact for regulatory agencies and insurance carriers
  • Manage permitting, reporting, inspections, and follow-up activities
  • Own EHS management systems, audits, inspections, action tracking processes, and compliance calendars
  • Report EHS performance and trends using leading and lagging metrics
  • Lead incident and near-miss investigations
  • Conduct root-cause analyses and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Verify effectiveness of corrective actions and drive timely closure of action items
  • Support safe work execution through permit reviews and approvals
  • Participate in change reviews, design reviews, project reviews, job hazard analyses, and risk assessments
  • Lead and sustain Process Safety Management (PSM) programs
  • Manage Management of Change (MOC) processes and PSM audits
  • Facilitate Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) and HAZOP reviews and support LOPA activities as needed
  • Govern and track PSM action items
  • Support industrial hygiene monitoring and exposure assessments, including air and noise monitoring
  • Drive improvements based on industrial hygiene results
  • Maintain alignment with Responsible Care and RC 14001 requirements
  • Support continual improvement activities and readiness assessments
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs and communications
  • Lead emergency response preparedness activities, including planning, drills, and coordination
  • Partner with Human Resources and leadership on injury management activities as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by plant and corporate safety and environmental leadership
Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field
  • 5+ years of EHS experience in manufacturing
  • Demonstrated EHS program leadership experience
Preferred:
  • Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM
  • Experience facilitating Process Hazard Analyses (PHA), HAZOP studies, and supporting Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA) and Process Safety Management (PSM) programs
  • Experience with ACC Responsible Care and/or RC 14001 systems
  • Experience developing or maintaining OSHA VPP STAR status in a PSM-covered facility
  • Hazardous materials response knowledge, including HazMat Technician-level training
  • Confined space rescue experience
  • First Aid/CPR certification
  • Experience in an organized labor or union environment
General Requirements:
  • Knowledge of applicable environmental, safety, transportation, and security regulations
  • Ability to manage permitting, reporting, inspections, auditing, and recordkeeping activities
  • Strong coaching, engagement, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience utilizing leading and lagging metrics to monitor and improve EHS performance
  • Working knowledge of process safety technical aspects, including P&IDs, emergency relief systems, suppression systems, facility siting, and industry standards such as ANSI, API, and NFPA
  • Ability to conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions
  • Experience supporting industrial hygiene monitoring and exposure assessments
  • Knowledge of chemical manufacturing or PSM-covered processes preferred
