POSITION SUMMARY
The Quality Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a robust quality strategy across all manufacturing operations, to ensure compliance with industry standards, customer requirements, and regulatory guidelines. This role oversees the Quality Management System (QMS), quality assurance and quality control activities across manufacturing operations for all product lines, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Quality Strategy & Leadership
  • Define and execute the company's quality vision, strategy, and objectives aligned with business goals.
  • Lead and mentor the quality team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Ensure compliance with TL9000 and other relevant telecommunications industry standards.
  • Develop and enforce quality policies, procedures, and documentation across all manufacturing sites.

Product Quality & Compliance
  • Ensure all fiber optic and power distribution products meet customer specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor incoming material inspection results, in-process quality checks, and final product audits.
  • Implement robust testing and validation processes for new and existing products.

Supplier Quality
  • Establish supplier quality standards and conduct audits to ensure raw materials and components meet specifications.
  • Collaborate with procurement and engineering teams to resolve supplier-related quality issues.

Continuous Improvement
  • Champion Lean Six Sigma methodologies to reduce defects, improve yield, and optimize processes.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions for non-conformances or systemic issues.

Customer Focus
  • Serve as the management point of contact for customer quality concerns, audits, and compliance inquiries.
  • Monitor customer satisfaction metrics and lead initiatives to improve quality performance.

Metrics & Reporting
  • Develop and track key quality performance indicators (KPIs) such as scrap rates, defect rates, and customer returns.
  • Present quality performance reports to senior leadership and recommend improvement actions.

Education and/or Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of ISO standards, TL 9000, and regulatory compliance for telecom products.
  • Proven experience with Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies (Black Belt preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in quality leadership roles within manufacturing, preferably in telecommunications or fiber optics.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Experience with ERP and QMS software tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Communication; listening, providing feedback, and informing team members.
  • Interpersonal skills; be approachable, empathetic, and supportive.
  • Teamwork; collaborating, cooperating, and delegating.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) is a plus.

COMPUTER SKILLS
  • MS Office (Word, PowerPoint and Excel) required.
  • Experience with BOMs, routings, manufacturing drawings, and ERP (Epicor) systems.
  • Solid understanding of 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred), and PDM.
  • Experience with HubSpot is a plus.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
  • This employee must be able to lift 25 pounds.
  • Time management; prioritizing tasks, meeting deadlines, and avoiding distractions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • The work environment involves both office and production floor areas.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

COMPENSATION
Pay Range: $90K - $110K
Status: Exempt
