Job description

Description:

The Process Engineer is directly responsible for the overall technical aspects of vacuum brazing, assembly, and prep. 


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Overall responsibility for process development and production.
  • Initial contact with customers from inquiry through to delivery requiring technical assistance with repair development and new products/processes.
  • Identify and implement productivity cost savings using LEAN techniques.
  • First level Contract Review approval.
  • Responsible for overall operation of the technical aspects of projects.
  • Offer input on work orders.
  • Ensure all process documentation is clear, accurate and up to date.
  •  Co-ordinate with outside vendors and suppliers on necessary fixtures, components and work scopes.
  • Collaborate with customers, internal departments, and support staff to accomplish both team and company goals.
  • Performs similar or related work as required, directed or as situation dictates and shall exercise any additional powers that are or may be legally conferred upon the position by the Plant Manager or President.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 


Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED/PREFERRED SKILLS:

• Degree in engineering or relevant field supplemented by a minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in experience in Heat Treating, Brazing Operation or Manufacturing environment. Manufacturing technology degree or Certified Manufacturing Engineering Certification a plus

•  Knowledge of materials science and metallurgy

•  Knowledge of brazing alloys, braze joint design, and effect of time at temp

•  Ability to interpret complex data and technical drawings to customer specifications

•  Strong technical knowledge; Heat Treatment techniques or similar - essential

•  Experience of Lean Manufacturing tools/techniques

•  Good understanding of quality systems; AMS9100, NADCAP, AS2750

•  Use of Microsoft Office software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook preferred

• Ability to use computers for data entry, word processing, spreadsheets, and custom applications preferred

•  Excellent written and oral communication skills

•  Ability to work collaboratively with other staff, vendors, customers, and the general public

•  Organized and detail-oriented with strong level of accuracy and the ability to multi-task

•  Ability to prioritize and adhere to strict deadlines

•  High level of integrity; ability to handle confidential information
