Job description

The Process Engineer will work on assigned projects within the manufacturing and quality assurance functions, focusing on analyzing and optimizing existing business processes to drive continuous operational improvement. This role will assist the management team in the implementation, and monitoring of process enhancements. This is a cross-functional role that will involve working across multiple departments/processes (Bleaching, finishing, automated cut & sew) within the facility along with other Standard Textile supply chain team members.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Improve operation costs, quality and turn time
  • Recommend and implement changes to safety procedures, work methods, and labor standards
  • Work on productivity improvement projects and initiate or manage cost reduction strategies
  • Identify areas to reduce waste in manufacturing processes using the LEAN methodology
  • Complete programs and projects on time and on budget
  • Collect, analyze and present engineering data to evaluate projects
  • Requires the ability to identify cost reduction opportunities, estimate cost impact, research available solutions and implement projects
  • Educate others on lean manufacturing and/or process improvement programs
  • Collaborate with the process development team to facilitate new products, process improvements and new technology
  • Conduct and lead project meetings
  • Set clear goals and lead a team to achieve those goals
  • Work to resolve issues, improve quality, reduce customer complaints, ensure consistent batch quality and improve material yield
  • Coordinate plant layouts, machine installation and start-up processes
  • Perform ad-hoc, job related tasks as business needs dictate

Qualifications Include:

Education & Experience:

  • Required: BS in Engineering or Textile Sciences (or similar)
  • Required: Internship or Engineering Project in college
  • Preferred: Prior experience in textile or other manufacturing

Skills Required:

  • High degree of computer literacy to include MS Office
  • Well-developed problem-solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Understanding of and experience with root cause analysis and continuous process improvement methods (i.e. LEAN, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Pareto Analysis) Ability to quickly learn new processes and technology
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to effectively manage multiple tasks
  • Proficient planning, organization, and time-management skills
  • Results-focused and detail-oriented
  • Safety and team-oriented with a good work ethic, positive attitude, and the ability to work independently or in a team environment

Special Requirements:

  • Frequent typing/data entry, sitting, standing, walking, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
