Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Process Engineer who will be part of the process engineering team responsible for the design of the dairy processing portion of our new greenfield facility in Rome, NY. These roles require a deep understanding of dairy processing unit operations, equipment, dairy manufacturing technologies, and experience in both design as well as start‑up and operational support is preferred. The role works in partnership with the Capital project manager responsible for the construction of the dairy processing portion of the new facility. This individual contributor position is comparable to a Director of Process Engineering and does not have any direct reports.

Responsibilities
  • Process Design and Development: Design dairy processing operations ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including Capital project managers, Operations, Quality, and others to ensure seamless integration of process engineering solutions.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with process engineering projects, ensuring safety and reliability.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of process designs, specifications, and project progress.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Travel: Occasional travel to equipment vendors and other Chobani sites.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7‑10 years of experience in process engineering. Experience in hygienic process design, cultured dairy products, and aseptic processing is a plus. Understanding of PLC and logic controls for manufacturing equipment is preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in process simulation software, CAD tools, and other relevant engineering applications.
  • Problem‑Solving: Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions to technical challenges.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this full‑time position is $105,500.00 – $166,100.00, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
