Job description

LHH is seeking a Process Engineer for a Direct Hire, Permanent Placement position with a precision machining client located in Indianapolis, IN. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing organization that specializes in highly engineered, custom-built products and operates in a low-volume, high-mix environment. In this role, you will serve as the process expert responsible for developing production strategies, selecting manufacturing methods, and partnering with engineering and operations teams to ensure complex components are produced efficiently, accurately, and profitably. The compensation is commensurate to experience and will range between $110,000-140,000 per year plus quarterly bonuses and includes comprehensive benefit and insurance plans, generous Paid Time Off, and a 401K plan with a company match. ***Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.*** JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Review engineering drawings, models, and specifications to determine manufacturing methods
  • Develop efficient manufacturing routings for custom and prototype components
  • Define machining sequences and production workflows for complex parts
  • Select appropriate materials, tooling, and equipment for production requirements
  • Estimate setup times, cycle times, and overall manufacturing labor requirements
  • Collaborate with CNC programmers to optimize machining strategies
  • Partner with project teams to support successful execution of customer projects
  • Create and maintain manufacturing process documentation and work instructions
  • Evaluate historical production data to improve estimating accuracy
  • Support resolution of production scheduling and manufacturing challenges
  • Assist with tooling recommendations and procurement activities as needed
  • Serve as a technical liaison between engineering and manufacturing teams
  • Promote manufacturing best practices and process consistency across operations
  • Support prototype, developmental, and one-off product manufacturing activities
  • Contribute to continuous operational improvement and manufacturing excellence initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is preferred
  • Minimum of 5+ years of manufacturing engineering or process engineering experience within a manufacturing facility is required
  • Must have 3+ years of experience specifically with CNC machining operations (i.e. CNC milling, turning, and EDM processes)
  • Must have experience determining manufacturing processes from engineering drawings and CAD models, routing development, and process planning
  • Ideal candidates will have experience supporting low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environments
  • Ideal candidates will have experience selecting materials, tooling, and manufacturing equipment
  • Experience working with prototype, developmental, or custom-engineered products is preferred
  • Highly detail-oriented, organized, and process-driven mindset required
