Job description

Manufacturing Process Engineer
Help Bring Complex Designs to Life
At Bullen Ultrasonics, we help customers solve some of their toughest manufacturing challenges. For more than 50 years, we've partnered with engineers and innovators to transform complex designs into precision-machined components used in demanding industries around the world. Our advanced machining technologies and problem-solving mindset allow us to tackle applications that traditional manufacturing methods often cannot.
We're looking for a Manufacturing Process Engineer who is curious, analytical, and driven to improve how things are made. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to develop new manufacturing processes, optimize existing operations, work directly with advanced technologies, and collaborate with talented professionals across the organization.
If you enjoy turning data into solutions, tackling technical challenges, and seeing your ideas make a measurable impact on the shop floor, we'd love to hear from you.
Why This Role Is Different
You'll be involved in the entire process improvement lifecycle, from concept and experimentation to implementation and validation. You'll work with ultrasonic, CNC grinding, and emerging manufacturing technologies while helping drive continuous improvement across the organization.
Your work will directly influence quality, productivity, cost reduction, throughput, and customer satisfaction.
What You'll Do
As a Manufacturing Process Engineer, you will:
  • Evaluate existing manufacturing methods and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, yield, throughput, and cost performance.
  • Develop and implement new manufacturing processes for precision components made from hard and brittle materials.
  • Create manufacturing methods from customer drawings and specifications.
  • Design fixtures, workholding solutions, and tooling using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and related design tools.
  • Conduct process studies, root cause investigations, and time studies to improve process consistency and eliminate waste.
  • Research, test, and validate new technologies, materials, equipment, and manufacturing techniques.
  • Establish process controls using SPC, control charts, engineering controls, and other process management tools.
  • Utilize metrology equipment to measure and verify dimensional requirements at global, local, and microscopic levels.
  • Analyze complex manufacturing data, identify trends, and present actionable findings.
  • Collaborate with operators, production teams, quality personnel, equipment suppliers, and leadership to achieve project objectives.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives throughout the operation.
  • Lead small to medium-sized engineering projects from planning through completion.
  • Document project results and present technical findings to audiences ranging from production personnel to senior leadership.
  • Maintain compliance with Bullen's Quality Management System, operating procedures, and customer requirements.
  • Support special projects and other engineering initiatives as needed.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two to five years of manufacturing, process engineering, or related engineering experience.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and engineering software tools.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience operating CNC machining equipment.
  • Experience with CNC grinding processes and programming.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC), root cause analysis, industrial engineering methodologies, and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Knowledge of GD amp;T and precision measurement techniques.
  • Experience collecting, analyzing, and presenting manufacturing data.
  • Experience leading project teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
What Success Looks Like
Successful candidates will:
  • Deliver measurable improvements in manufacturing performance, quality, and efficiency.
  • Develop practical solutions to complex engineering challenges.
  • Build strong partnerships across departments and work effectively with people throughout the organization.
  • Produce accurate, timely engineering analyses and project results.
  • Maintain a strong focus on quality, safety, and customer requirements.
  • Share knowledge, support teammates, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Take ownership of projects and follow through on commitments.
Working Environment
This position works in both office and manufacturing environments. Team members may occasionally be exposed to moving mechanical equipment, airborne particles, chemicals, vibration, and moderate noise levels. Appropriate safety procedures and personal protective equipment are provided.
The role requires a combination of desk-based engineering work, hands-on process development, shop floor support, testing, and project implementation activities.
Why Bullen?
At Bullen, you'll join a team that believes great ideas can come from anywhere. We value people who ask questions, remain open to new perspectives, and work together to solve difficult challenges. Our engineers have the opportunity to make a visible impact on the business while continuing to grow their technical and professional capabilities.
You'll work alongside experienced professionals, gain exposure to unique manufacturing technologies, and help develop solutions for customers operating at the forefront of their industries. Whether you're improving an existing process, launching a new capability, or solving a complex production challenge, your contributions will matter.
If you're excited about advanced manufacturing, continuous improvement, and helping bring innovative designs to life, we encourage you to apply.
