Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Process/Maintenance Engineer opportunity to support the Savannah River Site.
Work Location: Aiken, SC
Process/Maintenance Engineer-
The Process/Maintenance Engineer will provide technical engineering support for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and improvement of liquid-waste processing and nuclear facility systems. The engineer will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Work Control, Design Engineering, and other facility organizations to maintain equipment reliability, resolve process and mechanical issues, and ensure systems remain within approved operating, safety, and configuration requirements.
Duties:
  • Provide engineering support for assigned process systems, equipment, and facility operations.
  • Monitor system performance, equipment reliability, and maintenance trends to identify issues.
  • Troubleshoot process equipment, piping, instrumentation, ventilation, and mechanical systems.
  • Evaluate equipment failures and abnormal conditions; recommend repairs, modifications, and process improvements.
  • Support preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Review work packages, procedures, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Perform field walk-downs to verify equipment condition, configuration, and work scope.
  • Provide technical support during work planning, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Prepare engineering evaluations, calculations, operability assessments, and technical recommendations.
  • Support equipment operability evaluations and safe operation of degraded systems.
  • Develop procurement specifications and review vendor technical documentation.
  • Support post-maintenance testing, system startup, turnover, and return-to-service activities.
  • Participate in failure investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action development.
  • Maintain configuration management, system documentation, and change control.
  • Coordinate engineering activities with Operations, Maintenance, QA, Safety, Radiological Controls, Procurement, and vendors.
  • Recommend reliability improvements that increase equipment availability, reduce downtime, and support safe liquid waste processing.

Required Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Relevant engineering experience supporting industrial, chemical-processing, nuclear, power-generation, manufacturing, or other highly regulated facilities as engineering support to maintenance and equipment reliability.
  • Experience in performing field walk-downs and supporting operating facilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings, equipment specifications, procedures, and vendor technical manuals.
  • Experience troubleshooting process or mechanical equipment and developing technically sound corrective actions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Savannah River Site, DOE, commercial nuclear, chemical-processing, petrochemical, pulp and paper, pharmaceutical, or heavy industrial experience.
  • Liquid-waste processing, tank farms, chemical separations, evaporation, filtration, mixing, transfer systems, or radioactive-waste operations.
  • Facility Engineer, System Engineer, Design Authority, Cognizant Engineer, Reliability Engineer, Maintenance Engineer, or Process Engineer experience.
  • Corrective and preventive maintenance support.
  • Equipment reliability, system health reporting, or predictive maintenance.
  • Pumps, valves, piping, vessels, agitators, heat exchangers, HVAC, ventilation, or process instrumentation.
  • Work packages, lockout/tagout, post-maintenance testing, and return-to-service activities.
  • Root cause analysis and equipment failure investigations.
  • DOE configuration management or NQA-1.
