The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.

Responsibilities

The Process Control Engineer is responsible for monitoring program processes to ensure contractual and regulatory requirements are met. This role will be primarily focused on:

  • Investigating issues to determine compliance to requirements

  • Issuing, managing, tracking, and reporting status of Corrective Action Requests

  • Assisting program teammates with root cause analysis and developing corrective actions

  • Preparing and reporting metrics to senior leadership

  • This role is a part of a Process Controls team of auditors and data analysts and participates in internal audits, external AS9100 audits, and customer audits.

  • The Process Controls Engineer role is very dynamic and requires the ability to logically assess issues, analyze data, perform investigations including interviews, and communicate both within the team and with senior leadership.

  • This role works very closely with the Process Controls teams and Quality Senior Leadership to identify and control non-conformities and to enhance and improve current processes.

  • The successful candidate can expect to be involved with driving improvements across the program and participating in problem solving events.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 15 years of related experience.

  • Must have a valid US Driver's License.

  • Root Cause Analysis

  • Root Cause and Corrective Action

  • Lean Principles

  • Auditing

  • Data Analysis

  • ISO (AS9100) Standard

ASQ Certifications are also preferred but not required for this role.

Physical Requirement

  • May be required to climb stairs to access equipment for trouble shooting.

  • Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and other associated personal protective equipment.

  • Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.

  • Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.

  • Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.

Work Environment

  • May be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.

  • Position may require individual to travel daily to different areas on site.

  • Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand, may be required to access various locations on the facility.

  • Climbing ladders and platforms may be necessary.

  • All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and company safety standards.

  • Computers and printers are used for producing reports and schedules.

  • There is a variety of equipment used in testing.

Attendance

  • Full-time work hours.

  • Position may require occasional overtime, including weekend work, depending on task.

  • Must be dependable and punctual.

  • Shift work may be required.

  • Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.

  • Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel.
