Job description

Job Title: Process Quality Engineer

Reports to: PQE Supervisor


Job Summary:

The Process Quality Engineer (PQE) is responsible for driving quality performance across manufacturing processes and finished products. This role focuses on defect analysis, process control, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration to improve yield, reduce cost, and enhance product quality.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions for quality issues, including production abnormalities and customer complaints (e.g., 8D, 5-Why).

• Drive key quality performance indicators, including production yield, OBA DPPM, CTM performance, and other metrics assigned by the supervisor.

• Initiate and lead continuous improvement projects to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.

• Analyze defect trends and process variation using statistical tools (SPC, MSA) and implement effective control plans.

• Ensure implementation and compliance with quality standards and procedures; monitor the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

• Support and manage quality-related systems and projects (e.g., GQMS, QMS).

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Production, Engineering, Warehouse, SQE, etc.) to resolve quality issues and improve processes.

• Develop and optimize inspection methods, testing procedures, and quality control plans.

• Participate in internal and external audits (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001) and support audit readiness.

• Maintain a strong presence on the production floor to monitor process quality and drive real-time improvements.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with hands-on experience.
  • Proficient in data analysis and statistical tools (SPC, MSA preferred).
  • Excellent communication skills; bilingual in English and Mandarin preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment.
  • Strong teamwork and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related field preferred).
  • Minimum 1+ year of experience in quality or manufacturing engineering preferred.
  • Experience with SPC, Lean Manufacturing, and QMS systems is a plus.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001) and auditing processes is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel within the United States to support projects, manufacturing sites, warehouses, and third-party contract manufacturers as required.
  • Conduct on-site quality audits at third-party contract manufacturers or partners (e.g., process audits, product audits) and drive corrective actions to closure.
  • Travel assignments may involve extended durations (typically several weeks), requiring on-site support.
