Onsite Administrator Level II (Printer Technician) - Falls Church, VA
Description -
The Onsite Administrator Level II (Printer Technician) is responsible for advanced troubleshooting, repair, installation, configuration, and optimization of enterprise printing environments. The technician provides escalated support for complex hardware, software, network, and print management issues while mentoring junior technicians and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide advanced onsite support for printers and print management solutions.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex hardware failures, connectivity issues, firmware problems, and print quality defects.
  • Perform major repairs, rebuilds, and component replacement including fusers, transfer belts, imaging units, power supplies, controllers, and formatter boards.
  • Configure and troubleshoot network printing environments including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, SNMP, print servers, and print queues.
  • Install, configure, and support enterprise print management solutions and secure printing technologies.
  • Analyze recurring issues and implement permanent corrective actions to improve device reliability.
  • Manage escalated service tickets and act as the highest level of support before vendor escalation.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to Level 1 and Level 2 technicians.
  • Support fleet assessments, equipment refreshes, and deployment projects.
  • Maintain accurate service documentation, repair records, and root cause analysis reports.
  • Collaborate with IT teams, vendors, and customer stakeholders to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Assist with product evaluations, testing, and implementation of new printing technologies.
  • Ensure compliance with service level agreements (SLAs) and operational standards.

Education & Experience Recommended
  • 5+ years of experience in maintenance, quality related environments.
  • Experience supporting enterprise printers, copiers, and multifunction devices.
  • Strong understanding of printer hardware architecture and repair procedures.
  • Advanced knowledge of printing environments, print servers, and network protocols.
  • Experience troubleshooting and supporting enterprise print management software.
  • Ability to perform detailed diagnostics and root cause analysis.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize critical service incidents.

Preferred Qualifications
Print Manufacturer certifications
CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent technical certifications.
Experience supporting Managed Print Services (MPS) environments.
