In doing so, Burton Mill Solutions (BMS) and its affiliates have become the world’s most comprehensive supplier of modern lumber processing equipment, technology, and essential tooling which has allowed us to provider an unprecedented range of wood processing technology and technical expertise, including saws and knives, machinery and automation, process engineering, and mill flow. 

We are actively seeking a Logistics Program Manager to join our team of talented people to help continue our tradition of innovation and market leadership. The Logistics Program Manager is responsible for accurate and timely processing of domestic and international shipments. Position requires completion of documents for custom clearance and updating documents in our ERP System. Works closely with carriers, customs, customers, and management to maintain the high standards established by BMS.

How you will make a positive impact:

  • Foster a culture of accountability, safety, collaboration, and customer service excellence for inventory movement.
  • Develop and implement global transportation strategies to optimize cost, service, and reliability for inbound and outbound freight.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with Procurement, Operations, and Sales teams to align logistics plans to deliver business goals.
  • Collaborate with USNR on carrier provider selection, contract negotiations, performance management and best practice sharing of processes.
  • Develop and maintain transportation policies and procedures aligned with company standards and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, including customs documentation, tariffs, and duties.

The value you bring:

  • Oversee transportation operations including booking, routing, shipment tracking, and documentation for incoming and outgoing freight.

  • Provide dotted-line leadership and support to shipping and receiving departments across all Burton Mill Solutions, promoting consistency and operational excellence.

  • Manage customs clearance processes and coordinate with customs brokers to ensure regulatory compliance.

  • Monitor and manage tariff classifications and duty payments to optimize landed cost.

  • Maintain strong relationships with freight forwarders, parcel carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS, DHL), and 3PL providers.

  • Monitor KPIs such as on-time delivery, cost per shipment, and carrier/3PL performance.

  • Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising service quality.

  • Leverage data analytics and transportation management systems (TMS) to drive continuous improvement and operational efficiency.

  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of required documentation for international and North American cross-border shipments.Partner with IT and Finance departments.

    Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience & education

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a warehouse, distribution, or logistics operations in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working with international sales orders, creating export documents and Import documents for international shipping and/or receiving.
  • Knowledge and experience of working with INCOTERMS 2020
  • Experience working with or at a Custom’s Broker or Freight Forwarder
  • Experience using an ERP system, Microsoft Dynamics AX knowledge a plus
  • Domestic transportation knowledge
  • Related course work and certifications in customs compliance and logistics preferred
  • Strong organization and communications skills
  • Excellent computer skills, Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook
  • Ability to work well with time constraints and deadlines
  • Strong commitment to work in a dynamic environment promoting teamwork
