Job description

Principal Technical Consultant

As a Lead Technical Consultant within our ProtectBuy (3D Secure) division, you will sit at the intersection of business strategy, customer support, and technical execution. You will champion improvements in fraud mitigation and payment authentication features into actionable support processes, and you will collaborate with product organizations and vendors to implement improvements and appropriate solutions. Serving as a trusted, client-impacting advisor, you will bridge the gap between internal product teams, stakeholders, and customers solving critical roadblocks. Your expertise in global payment standards (such as 3D Secure and EMV) will be vital in driving product execution and ensuring a secure, seamless transaction experience.

Core Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor certification and support staff, fostering a collaborative environment and guiding the team toward high-quality delivery.
  • Develop, maintain, and track comprehensive project plans.
  • Make critical determinations regarding functionality, certification and support requirements.
  • Provide deep product and technical consultation to working teams to drive results, leveraging specialized knowledge of payment networks and 3D Secure protocols.
  • Review and formally sign off on completed certification projects, as well as user acceptance testing of system enhancements and new product development.
  • Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve critical bottlenecks and issues, partnering with cross‑functional and client‑facing teams to clear roadblocks and to ensure that root causes are identified and actioned.
Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent certification.
  • At least 5 years of experience in product management, business analysis, relationship management or IT.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business or Technology.
  • Direct hands‑on experience and technical familiarity with payment authentication protocols, specifically 3D Secure (3DS) and EMV standards.
  • Experience in a client‑facing or client‑impacting technical consulting role, managing external stakeholders and solving client processing issues.

Salary range: $138,100 - $157,700. Eligible to earn performance‑based incentive compensation.
