Job description

Job Overview:

Q3 Contracting (Q3C), a division of Primoris Services Corporation, is a publicly owned and operated construction contracting company that provides both specific and turnkey services for its customers in the gas, oil, electric and telecommunications industry. Our team is growing and we want you to be a part!
Keep the Traffic Team rolling as our Yard Assistant in our Little Canada, MN office.
Position Overview
This position is responsible for assisting with daily yard operations in our Twin Cities metro traffic yards, primarily at the Little Canada traffic yard. The Yard Assist supports the Yard Lead by maintaining sandbags, Type 1's, traffic device repair, sign repair & graffiti removal, A2 light maintenance and repair, inventory, organizing traffic control devices & equipment, and keeping the yard clean and efficient. Also, the Yard Assist will travel weekly to our other metro traffic yards to ensure all yards are stocked and clean, transporting any used custom signage and/or damaged signs/traffic devices back to Little Canada for repair/clean up. The Yard Assist will be trained to cover any duties for the Yard Lead when the Yard Lead may be off from work. Workdays are based on a Monday - Friday schedule, with Saturday work occasionally needed through the season.
Primary Duties
  • Maintain an adequate supply of "ready to use" Type 1 flashers.
  • Cut old sandbags and fill new sandbags; maintain a clean, organized stock.
  • Assist with keeping traffic control signs and devices neatly stored and ready for use.
  • Follow all applicable laws and company policies while operating a company vehicle.
  • Report any shortage of materials or yard supplies to your Yard Lead.
  • All Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is to be always worn while in any traffic yard or on a job site. See the list below of the required PPE.

End of Season Winter Tasks
  • Mix salt into sand for winter salt-sandbags (only in dry conditions).
  • Keep filled salt-sandbags covered and protected from moisture.
  • Assist with removing A2 lights from Type 1 flashers.
  • Remove batteries from A2 lights and store, stack flashers neatly.
  • Repair signs

Start of Season Spring Tasks
  • Re-installing batteries into A2 lights.
  • Reattach A2 lights to Type 1 flashers. Stack and organize flashers neatly for deployment.
  • Replenish sandbag stock.
  • Build signs

Required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Class E Hard Hat
  • Class 2 Safety Vest
  • Safety-Toe Work Boots (above-ankle, puncture-resistant, equivalent to leather)
  • ANSI Z87 Rated Safety Glasses
  • Cut-Resistant Gloves

Job Requirements:
  • A valid driver's license
  • Solid communication skills and reasoning ability.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with fellow employees, supervisors/foremen, excavators, contractors and customers.
  • Primoris Gas Operations is a drug-free environment. All positions require participation in drug testing programs.
