About Beck Fuel Systems
Beck Fuel Systems is part of the Beck Suppliers family and provides fuel system design, installation, maintenance, and removal services across Ohio. Our teams support active job sites including convenience stores, service stations, industrial facilities, and government locations.
This is hands-on, field-based work where safety, teamwork, and doing the job right matter every day.
The Role
This position is responsible for managing, installing, removing and inspecting underground storage tanks. They ensure compliance with the state fire marshal safety laws.

Job Summary/Purpose
This position is responsible for managing, installing, removing and inspecting underground storage tanks. They ensure compliance with the state fire marshal safety laws.
The Construction Technician performs hands-on construction, renovation, maintenance, and improvement of convenience stores and other fuel system-related locations. This role performs hands-on work across new store builds, remodel projects, site work, fuel system installations, equipment installations, and facility upgrades to ensure projects meet Company standards for safety, functionality, and quality.
The Construction Technician works closely with the Project Manager, contractors, and internal teams to complete projects safely, efficiently, and within established timelines and budgets.
Key Responsibilities
1. Construction & Store Development
  • Assists with construction, remodel, and maintenance projects at new and existing project sites.
  • Performs general construction tasks including carpentry, drywall repair, painting, flooring installation and repair, fixture installation, and finish work.
  • Performs demolition activities for existing structures and fuel systems.
  • Performs site work activities including utility installation, grading functions, and paving.
  • Performs all aspects of fuel system installations.
  • Performs concrete work including demolition and installation of paving and footers.
  • Assists with site preparation activities including demolition, material staging, and job site organization.
  • Works alongside contractors to install exterior components including signage, bollards, fueling canopies, and site furnishings.
  • Assists with punch list completion.
  • Ensures Company standards and construction specifications are maintained across all projects.

2. Facility
  • Installs and replaces lighting, doors, ceiling systems, and interior finishes.
  • Performs plumbing and electrical work within scope of training and licensing requirements.
  • Coordinates equipment deliveries and verifies materials received match project requirements.
  • Troubleshoots and performs repairs to construction-related issues identified during or after project completion.

3. Project Execution & Field Operations
  • Travels to assigned store locations to perform construction and repair work as scheduled.
  • Works closely with Project Manager, Facilities team, and contractors to complete assigned tasks.
  • Maintains project timelines by completing assigned work efficiently and communicating delays or issues promptly.
  • Reads and follows work orders, construction drawings, layouts, and installation instructions.
  • Maintains clean, safe, and organized job sites to minimize disruption to store operations.
  • Assists contractors and vendors to ensure adherence to Company standards and scope requirements.
  • Participates in store walkthroughs before and after construction activities.

4. Safety & Compliance
  • Follows all Company safety policies, OSHA requirements, and construction site safety procedures.
  • Properly uses personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
  • Identifies and reports unsafe conditions, hazards, or code compliance concerns.
  • Ensures tools and equipment are operated safely and maintained in proper working condition.
  • Completes safety inspections and corrective actions as directed.

5. Materials, Tools & Documentation
  • Maintains inventory of tools, materials, and supplies assigned to projects.
  • Loads, transports, and organizes construction materials between job sites.
  • Documents completed work, repairs, and installation activities as required.
  • Tracks material usage and communicates replenishment needs to supervisor.
  • Maintains Company vehicles, tools, and equipment in clean and operational condition.

6. General
  • Maintains working knowledge of Company construction standards and procedures.
  • Maintains professional relationships with vendors, contractors, and internal teams.
  • Complies with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Maintains flexibility to support multiple projects and changing priorities.
  • Travels regularly between Company locations as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Skills & Qualifications
Required:
  • Valid driver's license
  • Motor vehicle record compliant with Beck Supplier's insurance requirements for operating a Company-owned vehicle
  • Reliable transportation needed to report to work and perform essential job functions
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills

Preferred:
  • BUSTR certified
  • CDL endorsement

Physical Demands and Environmental Condition
This position requires the ability to perform a range of physical tasks in varied environments. Physical demands include:
Frequent :
  • Walking, standing, driving, bending, stooping, climbing, squatting
  • Lifting and carrying up to 90 lbs.

  • Use of hands and fingers
  • Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, weather, and general store atmospheric conditions

Travel Requirements and Work Schedule
  • Travels to assigned store locations to perform construction and repair work as scheduled.
  • Must be available to work early morning hours and other non-traditional hours as needed.
