The Children’s Center of Hamden is seeking a dynamic and strategic Vice President of Education Services to lead and oversee all educational programming, including Whitney Hall School. This role is responsible for setting the vision, ensuring compliance, and driving high-quality, student-centered educational outcomes across programs.

As a key member of the executive leadership team, the Vice President will supervise the Principal, collaborate across departments, and partner with external agencies to ensure effective, compliant, and innovative educational services for students with complex needs.

What You’ll Do

As Vice President/Director of Education Services, you will:

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight of all educational programming and service delivery
  • Supervise and evaluate the Whitney Hall School Principal, ensuring accountability for program performance and outcomes
  • Lead organizational strategic planning, program development, and cross-departmental initiatives
  • Serve as the primary liaison with external agencies, including the Connecticut State Department of Education and Department of Children and Families
  • Ensure compliance with all state and regulatory requirements for special education programming
  • Oversee educational budget development, management, and alignment with organizational goals
  • Lead quality improvement initiatives, using data to drive student outcomes and program effectiveness
  • Oversee student enrollment, referral processes, and census management to ensure appropriate utilization and capacity
  • Provide oversight of staffing structures, workforce planning, and recruitment strategies
  • Ensure implementation and fidelity of educator evaluation systems, including SEED
  • Provide oversight of the TEAM program and educator development initiatives
  • Monitor data systems, reporting, and student records to ensure compliance and informed decision-making
  • Provide guidance to the administrative team on IEP processes and support complex or high-risk cases as needed
  • Collaborate with PRTF leadership and internal programs to ensure alignment and continuity of services
  • Oversee policy development, implementation, and alignment across educational programming
  • Support the development of safe, inclusive, and therapeutic learning environments across programs
  • Participate in senior leadership meetings and organizational initiatives
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support program success


What We’re Looking For

  • CT Certification in Intermediate Administration or Supervision (Endorsement #092) and
    • Holds Social Worker Certification (#071) with the Connecticut Department of Education
    • Holds Special Education Certification (#165) with the Connecticut Department of Education
  • Background in special education strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to lead, implement, and evaluate educational programming
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal special education regulations
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and external partners


Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Ability to perform light to moderate lifting, standing, walking, bending, and other physical tasks as needed
  • Potential exposure to bodily fluids and other environmental hazards in a school-based setting
