Job description

Apicha Community Health Center aims to improve community health by providing access to comprehensive primary care, preventive health services, mental health, and supportive services. The center is dedicated to delivering high-quality, culturally competent services that enhance the quality of life. We are currently seeking a PrEP Navigator to work at our 400 Broadway location.

Position Summary:

The PrEP Navigator is responsible for recruiting people who are HIV positive or at high risk for HIV infection. This individual must provide navigation to patients on PEP and PrEP to engage and retain in care. The PrEP Navigator will conduct outreach at high risk venues where POC and MSM convene throughout New York City.

The major duties of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Client Services - Provide direct services to person who are high risk for HIV infection under supervision of PrEP Coordinator.
  • Conduct outreach and recruitment activities to the target populations including HIV testing events and other health fair.
  • Collaboration and Services - Collaborates with the clinical team to coordinate care and services for the programโ€™s clients.
  • Work collaboratively with agency staff from various departments.
  • Administrative - Maintain accurate records on the services and activities such as attendance, registration, clientโ€™s interactions and other required documentation according to the protocols and standards of APICHAโ€™s Support Services Department in designate database and reporting structures.
  • Collects, prepares, and reports of services and activities completed in a timely manner.
  • Participates internal and external meetings as assigned and appropriate.
  • Other activities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED with 1 year of working experience in a related field required. May consider: some college education with 1 year of working experience.
  • Strong socio-cultural identification with the target population or experience in working with target population strongly preferred.
  • Fluency in Spanish or one of Asian languages preferred.
  • Appreciation of and commitment to Apichaโ€™s mission and values.
  • Excellent MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work effectively in both a collaborative as well as individual setting.
  • They must be able to complete the Chief Medical Officerโ€™s training/certification to conduct rapid HIV antibody and antigen testing with 60 days of hire.
