Job description

Salary: $28.00 - $38.00 per hour. Negotiable based on experience

We are seeking an experienced Electronic Security Systems Technician to join our federal team supporting the Fort Sam Houston / Camp Bullis in San Antonio, TX. This role may help support some other bases in the nearby region as well, at times. Our team here is responsible for the maintenance, service, and sustainment of the Electronic Security Systems across the bases, primarily working with Lenel and Milestone systems.

Johnson Controls Federal Systems (JCFS) is a specialized team serving as a trusted partner to the federal government. We help modernize U.S. military installations, theDepartment of Defense, and other federal agency facilities to be more innovative, more resilient, efficient, sustainable, and secure.

Location: Fort Sam Houston / Camp Bullis. May help support some other bases in the area at times, but primary work is at Fort Sam Houston.
Schedule: Primarily day shift (roughly 8:00am 4:00pm), Monday-Friday.
Pay Range: $28.00 - $38.00 per hour. Negotiable based on experience.
Benefits:Eligible for benefits on thefirst day of employment
Vacation:3 weeks of paid vacation, 5 sick days, 3 floating holidays, and 10 standard holidays per calendar year (6.5 weeks in total).
Travel:10-20%, mostly local travel

As a Security Technician, you will:

  • Conduct maintenance and service work of existing Electronic Security Systems (ESS) to include, but not limited to, access controls, intrusion detection, and camera systems. Specific systems primarily include, but not limited to: Lenel and Vindicator systems
  • May install security devices and infrastructure at times per theinstallation plan, according to the National Electrical Code, company, and customer guidelines
  • Assist with security system programming and setup.
  • Conducts testing to ensure proper operation of equipment after installation or repairs
  • Conducts testing of the system at the signal-receiving center to properly establish service.
  • Coordinates installations with police/fire departments and handles necessary records for notification of emergency calls.
  • May help prepare estimates per prescribed instructions or directions from thesupervisor
  • Conduct End-User training.
  • Works safely and responsibly to avoid injuries, damage to property, loss of unused materials, and cleans up installation debris.
  • Performs other duties as required


Required Qualifications:

  • Experience installing, inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing commercial and/or industrial integrated/electronic security systems for complex low voltage intrusion, access control, CCTV, and digital recording systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics, and operational product manuals.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, while establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships.
  • Capable of using hand and power tools to mount and secure equipment properly
    • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights
  • Works well unsupervised and as part of a team environment
    • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Department of Defense Secret clearance (or one that was active within the last 2 years).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated proficiency working with Lenel, Vindicator, or Linx Predator Elite
  • Technical proficiency working with fiber and networks
  • Proficiency working with a variety of commercial and/or industrial camera systems, preferably with Lenel, Advantor, and others.

Preferred Education:

  • Lenel certified
