JOB SUMMARY
The Security program at Knox Community Hospital provides a variety of services focused on safeguarding and improving the physical security of patients, employees and visitors while protecting the rights of individuals and observing all applicable laws.
P R I M A R Y J OB RESP O N S I B IL I T I ES
- Monitoring surveillance cameras.
- Patrol premises to ensure they are secure and deter crime, inside and outside the campus buildings completing the rounds with the door pipe system. Maintain a clear visibility while patrolling being vigilant and responding quickly during a crisis.
- Maintain mental alertness at all times not matter the circumstances.
- Maintain a professional and effective relationship with the local police department, sheriff office and fire departments.
- Monitor patients that are violent in nature or threatening toward personnel.
- Monitor/assist in traffic control when Medical helicopters are landing.
- Complete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences daily.
- Maintain the Security vehicle(s) and golf cart clean and orderly.
- Carry a hand held radio or cell phone for customer access.
- Follow established security protocols while using initiative and good judgment.
- Assist as assigned with all Disaster situations.
ADDITIONAL R E S PO N S IBILIT I ES
• Required to fill a 24/7 schedule as assigned covering Sunday through Saturday, holiday, special events, 1 st , 2 nd and/or 3rd shift. Shifts are assigned as need to maintain a safe environment the hospital campus.
• Required to attend all Knox Community Hospital trainings which include self-defense, Taser, baton, chemical spray, and any other training as assigned.
• Assume responsibility and accountability for individual knowledge, skills, performance and behavior in accordance with hospital, division and department standards of care and policie and procedure s .
• Demonstrate willingness to perform cross-functional duties to insure optimal utilization of departmental resources.
• Maintain confidentiality of employees, patients, physicians and all matters related to hospital operations.
• Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulation s .
• Present a professional image.
• Demonstrate initiative in personal/professional development .
• Assist with control of costs through the judicious use of human and material resources.
• Comply with all safety and infection control policies and procedures.
• Participate in hospital activities and represent the hospital in delegated functions.
• Participate in staff meetings, educational programs, committees, Quality activities and mandatory i n - services.
• Must maintain a positive, supportive attitude toward employees, patients, public and the security team members.
• Grooming/hygiene/professional image: Officers are expected to adhere to the guidelines set for in the Human Resources Professional Identification/Appearance Policy and also included beards, mustache and sideburns must be short and trimmed neatly. If no beard or mustache is grown, face will be smoothly shaved each day. Facial hair includes the area of the face above the beard line and the entire neck area.
• Must take a 30 minute dinner break in the facility unless there is an emergency.
• Other duties as assigned.
Requirements Include
EDUCA T ION AND WORK EXPE R I E N CE
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Must be 18 years old
- Not have been convicted of a disqualifying offense as listed in Sec. 4776.10 within the last three years, or a crime of moral turpitude at any time, nor should a person have been adjudicated incompetent without having been restored to legal capacity for that purpose
- A disqualifying offense is an offense that is a felony and that has a direct nexus to an individual's proposed or current field of licensure, certification, or employment.
- A direct nexus refers to the nature of the offense for which the individual was convicted or to which the individual pleaded guilty has a direct bearing on the fitness or ability of the individual to perform one or more of the duties or responsibilities necessarily related to a particular occupation, profession, or trade.
- A Crime of Moral Turpitude means:
- Aggravated Murder/ Murder, or complicity in either;
- Sexually Oriented offense whereby one is classified as a sex offender, sexual predator, or habitual sex offender;
- Offense of violence if such felony that results is of the first or second degree;
- Attempt, conspiracy to commit, or complicity in committing any of the above, if such attempt, conspiracy to commit, or complicity results in a felony of the first or second degree;
- Any violation of a former State law, Federal law, or existing or former law applicable in military court, Indian tribal court, or any existing or former law of any nation other than the U.S. that is or was substantially equivalent to any of the above.
- Must have a clear background check , including FBI check.
- 2+ years' experience in the security field, police academy, or a certificate indicating completion of a security course is preferred but not required.
- Valid Ohio Driver's License required.
