Job description

Class-A CDL Driver / Millright Support
Precision Industrial Contractors (PIC) is seeking an experienced Class-A CDL Driver to join our team based out of Ocala, Florida. This position is a temporary role, lasting until the end of October 2026.
This is more than a driving position. We are looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined individual who is comfortable operating commercial vehicles and supporting industrial construction crews in the field. The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on work, problem-solving, operating equipment, and contributing to project success both behind the wheel and on the job site.
What You'll Do
Transportation & Equipment Operations
  • Safely operate company-owned Class-A commercial vehicles for local, regional, and nationwide transportation needs
  • Transport construction equipment, machinery, materials, and oversized loads
  • Operate a:
    • 2019 Peterbilt 389
      • 18-Speed Eaton Manual Transmission
      • 40" Sleeper
      • Drop Axle
      • Omnitracs XRS E-Log System
    • 2022 Landoll 455B Trailer
      • Tridem Axle
      • Rollback / Step-Deck Configuration
      • 20,000 lb. Hydraulic Recovery Winch
      • Pneumatic and Hydraulic Hookups
  • Secure loads using chains, binders, straps, and other approved cargo securement methods
  • Load, unload, and transport machinery, construction equipment, and materials safely and efficiently
  • Verify manifests, delivery documentation, and obtain required signatures
  • Plan routes, monitor weather and road conditions, and communicate with dispatch regarding schedules and deliveries
  • Maintain accurate driving logs, hours of service records, and delivery documentation

Field & Project Support
When not operating commercial vehicles, this position will assist PIC's field crews on industrial construction, maintenance, and equipment installation projects.
Responsibilities may include:
  • Operating forklifts and telehandlers to move materials and equipment safely on job sites
  • Assisting with rigging and machinery moving activities using skates, slings, chain falls, and other rigging equipment
  • Operating hand and power tools including rotary hammer drills, impact drills, band saws, grinders, wrenches, and other construction equipment
  • Supporting millwrights, welders, and construction crews during equipment installations, shutdowns, and maintenance projects
  • Assisting with loading, unloading, staging, and organizing equipment and materials
  • Operating generators and replacing propane tanks as needed
  • Performing general labor and project support tasks as assigned
  • Troubleshooting field issues and helping identify practical solutions to keep projects moving forward
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work environment
  • Demonstrating patience, adaptability, and a team-first attitude in fast-paced industrial environments

Vehicle Inspection, Maintenance & Safety
  • Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections
  • Monitor vehicle performance and report maintenance needs promptly
  • Maintain cleanliness and professional appearance of assigned equipment
  • Assist with routine maintenance tasks, including fueling and basic vehicle upkeep
  • Follow all DOT, ICC, FMCSA, and company safety regulations
  • Participate in safety meetings and training as required
  • Operate safely under varying road and weather conditions
  • Make safety the top priority in all aspects of the job

Qualifications
Required
  • Valid Class-A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Minimum of 2 years of commercial driving experience
  • Clean driving record with no major violations
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and background check
  • Experience operating manual transmissions
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to perform hands-on field work
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Comfortable with overnight travel and extended driving periods

Preferred
  • Millwright, industrial maintenance, or industrial construction experience
  • Machinery moving and rigging experience
  • Forklift and telehandler operation experience
  • Flatbed hauling, cargo securement, and tarping experience
  • Experience working around heavy equipment and industrial job sites
  • Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities and a solutions-oriented mindset
