Job description

We're looking for an experienced Pre-Litigation Attorney with at least 5 years of dedicated experience supporting plaintiff-side personal injury cases and leading a team of legal staff. We do everything we can for our clients and we're looking for an attorney who is as client focused as we are!
The Pre-Litigation Attorney is part of a team that handles personal injury cases including but not limited to auto accidents, dog bites, premise liability, and other injuries for legal proceedings. This role will help provide oversight for a staff of case managers and/or paralegals, negotiators.
Responsibilities:
Case Management
Manage a high-volume caseload from intake through resolution with support from a broader team. Develop strong cases by ensuring accurate documentation of key facts, impacts, and outcomes. Analyze available data to assess responsibility, risk, and potential outcomes. Provide guidance through research and informed decision-making. Maintain clear communication with all stakeholders and facilitate resolution through negotiation or alternative dispute methods. Conduct regular reviews and interactions to track progress and ensure timely advancement. Evaluate matters for escalation and identify key factors relevant to negotiation or further action.
Team Management and Leadership
Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and support to team members while promoting continuous improvement. Oversee departmental operations to ensure work progresses efficiently and aligns with organizational goals. Collaborate across teams to coordinate workflows and resolve outstanding issues. Regularly assess processes to improve effectiveness, consistency, and efficiency.
Client and Community Relations
Build and maintain strong relationships to support service delivery and organizational growth. Ensure a positive experience through clear communication, responsiveness, and expectation management. Provide regular updates and discuss strategy and next steps as needed.
Compliance
Conduct research and analysis to ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and standards. Stay informed on relevant developments to support sound decision-making and compliance.

  • Proven utilization of technology, including computers, databases, portals, and software, needed to successfully perform the job.
  • Exhibits a professional and courteous demeanor to team members and the public with demonstrated compassion and empathy for clients, with the ability to de-escalate when needed.
  • High level of professionalism and ethical behavior.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Juris Doctor(JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the State Bar of North Carolina with good standing.
  • Minimum of three to five (3-5) years demonstrated negotiations and settlement experience.
  • Must possess at least three (3) years of experience leading and mentoring staff within a legal setting.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of pre-litigation experience, with proven experience in personal injury law preferred.
