Job description


One of the nations top schools of social work, Boston University School of Social Work (BUSSW) is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence in education, research, and evidence-based practice to advance social, racial, and economic justice and solve the most pressing societal problems of the 21st century. The BUSSW currently invites applications for the Practicum Coordinator position to serve as part of our team to ensure that all MSW students receive a robust practicum education experience that is well aligned with core social work competencies and career preparedness. The Practicum Coordinator will work students in the MSW program and collaborate across the BUSSW Online, On Campus, and Off-Campus programs. The Practicum Coordinator is responsible for working with MSW students to secure internships required for social work training. This position also engages in partnership development, vetting of potential agencies, and problem-solving as needs arise. The Practicum Coordinator provides supervision and support to field advisors, contributes to content development for and instruction of Practicum Education Seminars, facilitates information sessions and practicum preparation seminars, and serves as practicum advisor to students in placement. Practicum Coordinators will provide virtual supervision for students in agency settings that do not have a social worker on staff. Coordinators participate in departmental and School-wide committees. The successful candidate will have: A masters degree in social work (MSW) and at least 5-8 years of social work experience in clinical/macro settings. Experience serving as a practicum education advisor/ supervisor, 3+ years. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are required. Social work licensure required; LICSW or equivalent preferred.
