The Systems Engineering Division (SED) provides unmatched experience in systems engineering to the U.S. government and to numerous public and private agencies, universities, nonprofit organizations, consortia, and commercial companies involved in the advanced application of space technology. From systems architecture development to system analysis and optimization, astrodynamics, orbital debris, navigation, failure analysis, mission assurance, cost and schedule assessment, and economic market analysis, SED exploits an incredibly broad array of engineering and business disciplines against a diverse and dynamic portfolio of programs and national challenges.

The Systems and Operations Assurance Department is the source of expertise for Operations and Facilities Engineering providing an array of technical capabilities that support our customers in assuring the availability, readiness, and success of ground assets and services required to meet the needs of the space enterprise.

We have a current need for an Electrical Power Engineer(Engineering Specialist - Electrical Engineering) to join our high-performing team in solving some of today's hardest problems and help evolve our capabilities in meeting the technical challenges of tomorrow. The position requires experience with the design, development, and operations of electrical power infrastructure, particularly in the areas of power generation, transmission, distribution, protection, controls, grounding, and lightning protection systems.

Work Model:

This full-time position requires 100% onsite work in El Segundo CA, Chantilly VA, or Albuquerque, NM.

RESPONSIBILITIES

We expect the candidate to:

  • Provide technical expertise in identifying innovative technologies and operational enhancements to improve design, safety, resiliency/reliability and cost efficiency

  • Develop and implement advanced analytical techniques to evaluate facility systems and optimize overall electrical systems performance

  • Employ a rigorous and methodical approach to problem solving and root cause determination

  • Deliver independent, data-driven technical recommendations to management and customers through effective verbal and written communication

  • Develop/evaluate design criteria, concept design packages, support construction and commissioning operations; and develop test plans, interface control documents and test procedures

  • Travel to customer and/or government facilities while representing the company and department in a professional manner

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

(Engineering Specialist - Electrical Engineering)

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field from an accredited school

  • 8 years of experience in design and operation of facility electrical/power systems and controls, preferably in an Architect-Engineer (A&E) firm or utility company

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate

  • Knowledge of current building codes and regulations (e.g., NFPA, IBC, UFCs)

  • Proficiency with power distribution systems modeling and analysis tools such as SKM Power*Tools, eTAP, EasyPower

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or analogous computer-aided drafting programs

  • Ability to work independently and on teams in a fast-paced environment

  • Experience with developing project requirements and performing electrical calculations

  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to travel

  • This position requires a current and active TS/SCI clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

(Senior Engineering Specialist - Electrical Engineering)

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field from an accredited school

  • 12 years of experience in design and operation of facility electrical/power systems and controls, preferably in an Architect-Engineer (A&E) firm or utility company

  • Professional engineer (PE) license

  • Project management experienceand ability to lead project teams

  • Experience leading/mentoring junior staff

  • Project cost estimation experience

  • This position requires a current and active TS/SCI clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.

PREFERRED Engineering Specialist & Senior Engineering Specialist]

  • Master's degree in electrical engineeringor related field

  • Professional engineer (PE) license

  • Experience with high power/utility infrastructure engineering

  • Experience with high density data center design and operations

  • Experience with launch base infrastructure and facilities

  • Familiar with facility/infrastructure control and supervisory systems (e.g., SCADA, DCS)
