Job description

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION
We are seeking an experienced professional to contribute to the overall success of our organization. This position will perform activities in the human resource area including
recruitment, benefits administration, performance management, policies and procedures, and employee relations. As the HR Generalist, you will ensure that our organization attracts, develops, and retains top talent.
1. Essential Functions
a. Prepare and maintain employment records related to events, such as hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions.
b. Administer and maintain activities in the employee life cycle from
recruiting to termination following applicable labor laws for compliance. Make hiring recommendations when appropriate.
c. Interpret and explain human resources policies, procedures, laws,
standards, or regulations.
d. Schedule or conduct new hire orientations.
e. Assist with benefits open enrollment, counsel employees with insurance or other benefits questions. Conduct benefits orientation and process benefit election for newly eligible employees.
f. Maintain and update human resources documents including but not limited to employment forms, employee handbooks, performance evaluation forms, checklists, reports, job descriptions, etc.
g. Confer with management to develop or implement personnel policies or procedures.
h. Maintain compliance with applicable labor law. E.g. notices in construction trailers, break rooms, FMLA & PPACA tracking, etc.
i. Assist and/or administer terminations and ensure that necessary
paperwork is completed in compliance with applicable labor law.
j. Perform searches for qualified job candidates, using sources such as computer databases, networking, Internet recruiting resources, media advertisements, job fairs, recruiting firms, or employee referrals.
k. Provide management and/or hiring managers with information or training related to interviewing, performance appraisals, or documentation of performance issues.
l. Develop or implement recruiting strategies to meet current or anticipated staffing needs. Run digital/print ads according and forward billing to accounting.
m. Research, schedule and attend career fairs, visit colleges & high schools.
n. Advise management on organizing, preparing, or implementing recruiting or retention programs.
o. Assist with planning the company Christmas party and other company outings.
p. Administer training for harassment/civility, workplace violence, new policy implementation, etc.
q. other duties as assigned.
2. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
a. Excellent English communication skills and ability to receive/convey information from/to co-workers, management, vendors and customers efficiently and in a courteous and professional manner.
b. Good organizational and problem-solving skills; detail oriented.
c. Conform with and abide by all federal, state and company policies, procedures and regulations.
d. Ability to work independently, with integrity as well as cooperatively to complete daily activities according to work schedule.
e. Ability to work on several different projects at one time.
f. Conform to all safety rules and use all appropriate safety equipment, as needed.
g. Perform other duties as assigned.
3. Education, Training and Experience
a. associate degree or bachelor’s degree in human resources or business administration, or related field preferred.
b. HR certification preferred.
c. Relevant experience in the HR field required.
4. Work Context
a. Attend work as scheduled and on time.
b. Regular communication with co-workers, management, and
administration; includes face-to-face, e-mail and phone.
c. Maintaining continuous accuracy and attention to detail is extremely important in performing this job.
d. This position requires working indoors at a desk for the majority of the workday; may occasionally need to verify documentation, employee information, answer benefit & other HR related questions with co-workers in the shop, on the jobsite and/or early meetings.
5. Special Requirements
a. Valid driver’s license.
b. Must pass general physical and drug screen.
c. Must be 18 years old or older.
