What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Power Marketer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Power Marketer, you need a solid understanding of energy markets, risk management, and trading principles, often supported by a degree in finance, economics, or engineering. Familiarity with energy trading platforms, market analysis tools, and relevant certifications such as NERC or FERC compliance is typical. Strong analytical thinking, decision-making under pressure, and effective negotiation and communication skills set top performers apart. These abilities are crucial for ensuring profitable trades, compliance, and successful navigation of dynamic and highly regulated power markets.

What Does a Power Marketer Do?

As a power marketer, your responsibilities include researching and collecting data to assist renewable energy businesses in marketing their available power generation to various private buyers and utility companies. You lead the analysis and implementation of regional trading strategies to maximize asset value while working with management to further improve optimization. You meet with buyers, build working relationships with each, write up proposals while working closely with legal staff, and negotiate utility purchase deals. Other duties include monitoring and forecasting sales trends, measuring the effectiveness of marketing strategies, determining ways to collect and analyze data, preparing reports with your findings, and presenting them to clients or your managers. These findings help in identifying new potential buyers where you may develop a proposal and determine the pricing to offer.

What are some common challenges Power Marketers face when managing real-time energy trades?

Power Marketers often face the challenge of balancing rapidly changing supply and demand, while also monitoring fluctuating market prices and adhering to strict regulatory requirements. Real-time trading requires quick decision-making, strong analytical skills, and the ability to manage risk effectively. Additionally, coordination with grid operators, energy producers, and internal teams is crucial to ensure compliance and optimize profitability. Staying updated on market trends and weather conditions is also essential for success in this role.

Power marketers are professionals or companies that buy and sell electricity in wholesale and retail markets. They do not typically own power generation or transmission facilities but act as intermediaries, purchasing electricity from producers and selling it to utilities, large consumers, or other marketers. Growth Marketer

Dosu

San Francisco, CA • On-site

$100K - $130K/yr

Full-time

Posted 8 days ago

Job description

TL;DR: We're hiring a seasoned Growth Lead to work directly with our Head Of GTM to scale Dosu from $XX → $XXX ARR. You're a creative, data-driven, and energetic marketer who's excited to join a fast-growing, early-stage startup in a career-defining role. You're willing to roll up your sleeves - no task is too small when it helps move the company forward.
Requirements:
  • 5+ years in B2B SaaS growth marketing
  • Ideally experienced marketing to product, design, and/or marketing teams (or adjacent technical buyer personas)
  • Prior consulting (management/strategy/growth) or investment banking experience is a plus
Background
Dosu is building AI knowledge infrastructure for engineers and coding agents. We auto-generate and auto-maintain engineering knowledge on behalf of the organization, providing persistent and consistent context.
What You'll Do
  • Acquisition strategy: Design and execute multi-channel campaigns (AEO/SEO, SEM, social, partnerships, outbound support, growth "hacks") to drive qualified leads and pipeline.
  • Product-led growth: Collaborate with product and engineering to enhance viral loops, in-product engagement, activation, and conversion flows.
  • Content & storytelling: Launch high-impact content (webinars, case studies, blog posts, white papers, landing pages) that showcases Dosu's value and voice - and powers performance marketing and outbound.
  • Growth experimentation: Build and run rapid-testing frameworks to identify and scale the most effective acquisition and activation levers.
  • Events & conferences: Plan and execute conferences, events, and supporting lifecycle/email marketing with a data-driven approach to maximize pipeline impact.
  • Cross-functional alignment: Work with Sales, Customer Success, Product, and Engineering to ensure consistent messaging and a seamless customer journey from first touch → expansion.
Who You Are
  • You're hands-on and resourceful - comfortable shifting between strategy and execution, from writing copy to optimizing campaigns yourself.
  • You're analytical and creative, blending data-driven decision-making with strong storytelling and intuition.
  • You move fast, seek clarity, and thrive in ambiguous, high-growth environments where priorities evolve.
  • You care about craft and impact, not just output - you take pride in doing great work, even on small details.
  • You're curious and collaborative - energized by talking to customers and translating insights into campaigns that drive growth.
  • You're excited about building the marketing foundation for a company defining a new category.
