Summary
The Power Generation Controls Engineer is responsible for but not limited to programming Power Generation Systems, supporting applications and sales for new units, and providing commissioning and operational support services to customers for Enerflex supplied power generation packages and advanced maintenance functions, procedures, activities, and responsibilities associated with working on power generation systems.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties
  • Support control designers in the development of wiring diagrams for control panel and/or junction boxes as per project proposal, customer specification and industry standards.
  • Review and/or approve project wiring diagrams for control panels and/or junction boxes working with control designer and project engineers to meet project documentation delivery commitments.
  • Release project bill of material (BOM) and to manufacturer and support fabrication questions/comments.
  • Develop & adjust ComAp, PAC/PLC/HMI, DIA.NE, relay & protective device programs as required.
  • Perform emergency service, preventative maintenance, repairs, troubleshooting, and offer operations instruction for industrial engine driven generators and associated controls systems.
  • Commission and service Enerflex designed and fabricated power generation systems; coordinate all related on-site commissioning activities.
  • Provide support and assistance for the installation of new and existing generator control system panels and associated equipment, including shop testing.
  • Assist with testing new power generation package control systems and programming logic at the Houston manufacturing facility before shipment to customer site.
  • Program, test, and trouble shoot both generators set and synchronizing controls system.
  • Network and develop relationships with customers to further the Enerflex brand reputation and promise.
  • Model and champion Enerflex core values in ways that center team culture on these values
  • Abide by and promote the Enerflex HSE policy.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical/Instrumentation discipline, 2-4 years' experience in commissioning of Power Generation and/or Medium Voltage systems.
  • Working knowledge of various electrical components including MCCs, VFD's, electrical switchgear and motors.
  • Knowledge in NEC code is required.
  • Travel may be required, up to 25%.
  • Willingness to spend one to four week(s) at a time in the field supporting customers if necessary.
  • Valid driver's license with the ability and willingness to drive long distances.
  • Working knowledge of low voltage and medium voltage electrical systems.
  • Working knowledge of A/C and D/C systems and equipment.
  • Electrical trouble shooting skills.
  • Thorough understanding and ability to read and interpret electrical single line drawings, process and instrumentation diagrams and electrical and controls schematics.
  • Knowledge and experience with PLCs, HMIs, SELs and NGR relays.
  • Knowledge and experience with ComAP, Woodwards generator controllers considered an asset.
  • Experience with Jenbacher engine, generator DIA.NE control panels, Waukesha ESMs, CAT ADEM/EMCP, and Cummins PowerCommand considered an asset.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office application software.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and written.
  • Solid team player: work well with others to achieve shared success.
