Job Title: Power BI Report Writer – Payroll Analytics
Location: On-Site
Employment Type: Full-Time

Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Power BI Report Writer to support our Payroll and HR operations by translating complex payroll data into clear, accurate, and actionable reporting dashboards. This role will work closely with Payroll, Finance, HR, and IT teams to understand reporting needs, source and validate data, and develop high-quality visualization solutions. The ideal candidate has strong analytical skills, a deep understanding of payroll data structure, and hands-on experience designing and optimizing Power BI reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, design, and maintain Power BI dashboards, reports, and data visualizations using payroll and HR data.

  • Collaborate with Payroll and HR stakeholders to understand business requirements and reporting needs.

  • Extract, transform, and validate data from payroll systems, HRIS platforms, and related data sources.

  • Ensure accuracy, data integrity, and consistency in all reporting outputs.

  • Optimize and troubleshoot Power BI datasets, data models, measures, and performance issues.

  • Create calculated columns, DAX measures, and data models to support analytical reporting.

  • Document data definitions, report logic, and dashboard usage guidelines.

  • Support audit requests, compliance reporting, and month-end payroll reporting needs.

  • Train key users and business stakeholders on navigation and interpretation of dashboards.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience developing reports and dashboards using Microsoft Power BI.

  • Strong experience working with payroll or HR data (example systems: Oracle, Workday, Kronos, ADP, Ceridian, UKG, or similar).

  • Proficiency with DAX, Power Query, and Power BI data modeling.

  • Understanding of payroll data concepts such as earnings, deductions, taxes, labor distribution, and pay period structures.

  • Ability to analyze and validate large datasets for accuracy and completeness.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain data concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience working collaboratively in cross-functional business environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with SQL or other data query languages.

  • Familiarity with HRIS data structures, workforce management systems, or financial reporting tools.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business, HR, Finance, or related field.

Additional Details:

  • This role is 100% on-site and requires daily in-person collaboration.

  • Occasional extended hours may be needed during payroll cycles or audit requests.
