Job description

Koniag Operations Services LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking a Mailroom Supervisor with a Secret security clearance to support KOS and our government customer in Annapolis, MD. This position is for a Future New Business Opportunity. Koniag Operations Services, LLC, is seeking a qualified Mailroom Supervisor to oversee mailroom operations at a Department of Defense facility. This key personnel position requires expertise in DoD mailroom operations, classified material handling, and shipping/receiving procedures. The successful candidate will manage the daily operations of a mailroom that processes both classified and unclassified documents, packages, and equipment for approximately 100 personnel. Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to: The Mailroom Supervisor will be responsible for providing all labor, management, supervision, tools, materials, and equipment required to perform mailroom services at the facility. This position requires overseeing the capability to ship and receive classified and unclassified documents/packages/equipment daily between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Core responsibilities include: * Supervise mailroom operations and staff on-site five days a week, eight hours a day (excluding weekends and Federal holidays) * Oversee the prompt sorting and organizing of incoming/outgoing mail, parcels, and freight deliveries * Manage daily mail delivery to offices within the building for approximately 100 personnel * Ensure employees appropriately package and prepare local and international cargo for dispatch with proper stamping and labeling * Verify fragile parcels are properly marked and labeled before dispatch * Ensure compliance with timelines, guidelines, and policies for mail receipt/shipment * Follow DoD 4525.6-M (DoD Postal Manual) and DoD 4525.08-M (DoD Official Mail Manual) in mailroom operations * Document, accept, prepare, transport (within the building), and store incoming and outgoing shipments * Contact the Government's property manager when shipments are received for proper accountability, custody, and distribution * Coordinate all outgoing shipments for proper accountability * Prepare shipments utilizing the Next Generation Delivery Service (NGDS) guide * Ensure compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) hazardous materials policies * Establish and manage accounts with NGDS vendors * Escort NGDS shipping vendors within Government spaces when required * Maintain documentation on all shipments (cost, date, shipping location, weight, tracking information) * Track shipments to delivery at final destination and resolve shipment-specific issues * Oversee weekly collection of burn bags throughout the building * Manage handling and destruction of classified documents using certified shredders * Coordinate courier services between the DSO Annapolis site and other locations within 50 miles * Provide monthly reports of postal transactions and courier services performed * Manage Government vehicle use for courier services according to guidelines Education and Experience: Required: * Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a supervisor within a DoD or Federal Government mailroom * No record of conviction of a crime involving theft or moral turpitude * No disciplinary actions reflecting unfavorably upon integrity * No history of psychiatric disorder, alcoholism, or drug abuse (unless a medical evaluation determines the condition no longer exists) * Valid driver's license (or ability to obtain one) * No previous relief from military or federal postal duties for cause or criminal convictions Required Skills and Competencies: * Physical capability to perform duties involving prolonged standing, walking, and lifting weights up to 70 pounds * Knowledge of DoD 4525.6-M (DoD Postal Manual) and DoD 4525.08-M (DoD Official Mail Manual) * Experience with proper documentation, acceptance, preparation, and transportation of mail/packages * Understanding of DoD security protocols for handling classified materials * Knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) hazardous materials shipping regulations * Experience with shipping preparation, documentation, and packaging * Familiarity with Next Generation Delivery Service (NGDS) procedures * Strong attention to detail for proper package preparation and documentation * Ability to maintain accurate shipping records and produce regular reports * Experience managing mailroom staff and operations * Current training in safety/force protection processes for DoD mailrooms * Skill in tracking shipments and resolving delivery issues * Knowledge of classified document destruction procedures * Ability to coordinate courier services and maintain relevant documentation Desired Skills and Competencies: * Previous experience in the military or secure government facility * Knowledge of Transportation Discrepancy Report (TDR) procedures * Experience managing budgets and tracking expenditure * Familiarity with classified material handling protocols * Previous courier experience in a secure environment * Experience with shipping/receiving software and systems * Knowledge of international shipping requirements and customs documentation * Background in inventory management or logistics Clearance Requirement: * Secret Clearance Our Equal Employment Opportunity Policy The company is an equal opportunity employer.
