The Production Engineer provides process, materials, and/or equipment engineering support to manufacturing operations to maintain production performance or restore process capability. Provides support for day-to-day operations within the established capability of the asset. Leads operations teams in root cause analysis and problem solving. Provides technical expertise and direction to improve our competitive advantage for one or more technology areas. Drives improvement programs using existing and new technologies.
Job Duties:

  • Plant Day-to-Day Support
  • Provides technical support to the line within the established capability for the asset
  • Tracks Yield, TEEP and OEE performance
  • Accountable for accuracy of all plant operating procedures; Works with Improvement Engineers to develop and implement; Owns SOCs once established
  • Leads troubleshooting and root cause analysis for routine production and common deviations
  • Assists with design of solutions to improve processes and responsible for implementation (safety, yield, uptime, capacity release)
  • Monitors operations and recognizes when it is not in control, and understands the steps needed to address
  • Owns asset utilization monitoring and improvement process
  • Leads production-related quality investigations and assists in implementation of quality improvements
  • Leads troubleshooting and root cause analysis for major process deviations/issues
  • Approves changes to SOCs, with technical management
  • Quality (Raw material, Product, Complaints)
  • Leads production-related quality investigations and assists in implementation of quality improvements
  • Leads the qualification of new raw materials
  • Implements quality improvement projects
  • Improvements and Development
  • Identifies and implements incremental safety and productivity improvements
  • Provides technical support of new product scale-ups post manufacturing functional review
  • Gatekeeper of improvement/qualification activities on the production line. Reviews plans and makes implementation decisions
  • Drives product-by-process through development and documentation of standard manufacturing procesS
  • Coaches Operations team on operating procedures
  • Enable and assist in the training of Operators, Mechanics to convey the practical application of technology in the field
  • Work Processes (e.g., PSM, Quality Systems)
  • Leads PSM Technology Elements (Process Technology, PHA, MOC-Technology)
  • Active member of PSM Element Teams
  • Drives/leads Lean Manufacturing process


Qualifications


Minimum qualifications:

  • Technical Degree (BS or MS) in Engineering, Chemistry or related science discipline. Chemical Engineering degree is preferred.
  • Experience in a process engineering/ manufacturing-related role required


Preferred qualifications:

  • Demonstrated ability to apply technical knowledge to diagnose, troubleshoot, solve or help others solve equipment and/or process issues.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
  • Demonstrated knowledge of key PSM Technology elements such as Process Hazards Analysis, Process Technology, Management of Change-Technology, among others
  • Demonstrated ability train others, and work in a team based environment
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple, complex, time-sensitive projects
  • Demonstrated skill in leadership, team building and achieving results through influence and negotiation
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills; must work well in both self-managed and team environment
