Overview

The Lead Product Engineer is a Senior Engineer who will work as a key part of the Engineering Team. The Lead Product Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, release, and validation of battery packs for customized applications in the industrial and low voltage automotive market segments.  The Lead Product Engineer will evaluate user requirements to create product specifications and validation goals for complex projects. The Lead Product Engineer will collaborate and communicate with the engineering, sales, and customer facing teams to help design products within the company. The Lead Product Engineer may utilize requirements management software. The Lead Product Engineer will own the product design, safety and design quality documents.

Responsibilities
  • Review customer requirements and develop technical system specifications
  • Apply systems engineering methodologies to design and develop battery packs for customized applications
  • Lead the safety analyses (HARA, DFMEA, FMEDA) of the project
  • Participate in development of safety processes to meet certification requirements
  • Perform technical assessments and prepare documents for compliance to various specifications i.e.: ISO, UL
  • Partner with test and simulation teams in the formulation of a plan (DVP) that ensures verification and validation to support product engineering goals
  • Engage with OEM partner engineering teams to ensure proper processes and seamless integration
  • Ability to handle tasks with significant complexity under minimal supervision requiring a high degree of technical competence, precision, and attention to detail
  • Follow and improve our processes, to ensure tight cross-functional coordination and quality work products are delivered
  • Report on your project progress, anticipate and alert on risks, propose mitigations
Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors in Mechanical, Electrical or related engineering field required; Masters preferred 
  • 7+ years of relevant product engineering experience in the electronics, battery or mobility industries preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of a requirements management tool (DOORS, Integrity, ViSure) a benefit
  • Working knowledge of electrical hardware (including wire harness), software and electrical circuit theory applicable to the mobility industry
  • Requirements writing proficiency through work experience
  • Knowledge of systems engineering and associated standards: i.e. INCOSE Certification, ISO 26262, ISO 15288.
