Title: ITAM Capability Lead / Product Owner
Location: Kansas City, MO (preferred) or Cary, NC

Position Summary:
Client is seeking an experienced ITAM Capability Lead / Product Owner to drive the strategic direction, modernization, and maturity of the organization's IT Asset Management (ITAM) capability. This individual will serve as the business and capability owner, partnering closely with stakeholders across the enterprise to maximize the value of ITAM investments, champion process improvements, and align technology roadmaps with business objectives.
This is a highly visible role requiring a strong mix of ITAM subject matter expertise, product ownership, stakeholder management, and organizational change leadership. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can effectively communicate vision, build consensus, and guide stakeholders through capability evolution while maintaining alignment with established operating models.
The ITAM Capability Lead will help lead the modernization journey across IT Asset Management and Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM), including evaluating how AI can be leveraged within future-state capabilities and roadmaps.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Own and lead the enterprise ITAM capability roadmap, strategy, and ongoing maturity initiatives.
  • Serve as the Product Owner and primary advocate for ITAM services, capabilities, and business value.
  • Partner with stakeholders across business and technology teams to identify opportunities for capability enhancement and process optimization.
  • Drive adoption, governance, and adherence to established operating models.
  • Communicate vision, priorities, and business value to stakeholders at multiple organizational levels.
  • Lead modernization efforts for ITAM and support broader Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to incorporate AI and automation into future-state ITAM processes and workflows.
  • Facilitate prioritization of enhancements, initiatives, and capability investments.
  • Develop and maintain capability roadmaps, success metrics, and maturity assessments.
  • Provide examples and guidance based on previous experience advancing organizations through multiple stages of ITAM maturity.
  • Collaborate with technology, procurement, finance, vendor management, and business teams to ensure alignment and compliance.
  • Influence decision-making without direct authority while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Product Owner, Capability Lead, Product Manager, or similar role within an IT Asset Management environment.
  • Deep expertise in enterprise ITAM practices and frameworks.
  • Strong experience with:
  • Hardware Asset Management (HAM Pro)
  • Software Asset Management (SAM Pro)
  • Software licensing management
  • Asset lifecycle management
  • Vendor compliance and software audits
  • Demonstrated success leading ITAM maturity and transformation initiatives.
  • Experience creating and executing capability roadmaps.
