Job description

Position Title: Advanced Research Programs Office Student Worker
Department: Office of Advanced Research Programs
Reports To: Advanced Research Programs Dean's Administrative Assistant
FLSA Classification: Non-exempt, student worker
Pay Rate: $11 per hour
Hours: 10 hours per week for 17 weeks per fall or spring semester. 10 hours per week in summer semester as needed. (More hours may be requested in the event of staff absences. In fall and spring semester, work periods are from the week before semester classes start and the week after classes end. No hours during reading weeks and Christmas break.
Application Deadline: Immediate or until filled
Position Summary:
The Advanced Research Programs (ARP) Student Worker primarily supports the efforts of the ARP Dean's Administrative Assistant by completing tasks in general office, hospitality preparations, and study carrel room upkeep.
Ph.D. and Th.M. students and student spouses are not eligible to apply for this position.
Essential Functions:
  • Exhibit a positive, helpful, and professional work ethic
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Achieve familiarity with the basic functions of the ARP Office and related programs
  • Carry-out general office tasks (shredding, recycling, hospitality, inventory, cleaning, etc.)
  • Assist with office clerical tasks as instructed (scanning, copying, filing, dissertation processing, etc.)
  • Run general errands (such as seminary post office pickup)
  • Receive office calls and walk-in students/visitors when the Dean's Administrative Assistant is not available
  • Assist with ARP Study Carrel Room needs as directed
  • Assist with preparation and attend ARP special events (New Student Orientation, Academic Resourcing Workshops, Colloquium, and Graduates Dinner)
  • Other projects or tasks as requested by the Dean's Administrative Assistant

Tools & Equipment:
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Gmail
  • Willingness to become competent in technology used in video-conferencing
  • Familiarity in operating basic office equipment

Education/Certification/Training/Experience:
  • Experience in office support position preferred
  • Administrative gifting helpful
  • Strong oral and written communication skills beneficial
