Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Architect / Job Captain to support the design, drafting, coordination, and execution of commercial and healthcare projects.

This role will work closely with Senior Project Managers, consultants, contractors, and internal design teams to oversee projects from design development through construction administration. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical drafting skills, deep knowledge of commercial building systems and codes, and the ability to manage project documentation efficiently.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring projects are completed accurately, on schedule, and in compliance with applicable building and healthcare regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Project Coordination & Design Support

  • Collaborate with Senior Project Managers on multiple commercial and healthcare projects

  • Support project planning, coordination, and execution from design documentation through construction completion

  • Participate in client meetings, consultant coordination meetings, and construction meetings with general contractors

  • Assist in maintaining project schedules and achieving established milestones

Architectural Drafting & Documentation

  • Prepare and manage architectural drawings and construction documents using AutoCAD

  • Ensure completeness and accuracy of project documentation

  • Coordinate architectural details with engineering consultants and multidisciplinary teams

  • Support permit submissions and regulatory documentation requirements

Construction Administration

  • Oversee projects throughout the construction process to ensure alignment with design intent

  • Respond to RFIs, support submittal reviews, and coordinate field-related design updates

  • Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders to resolve technical issues efficiently

  • Monitor project progress and maintain quality standards throughout all phases

Code Compliance & Regulatory Coordination

  • Apply strong working knowledge of:

    • Commercial Building Codes

    • ADA Compliance Requirements

    • Permit and municipal approval processes

  • Coordinate with local agencies and regulatory authorities to support permit acquisition and project approvals

  • Ensure all project documentation complies with applicable codes and standards

Healthcare & Specialized Facility Experience

  • Support healthcare and medical facility projects where applicable

  • Apply familiarity with:

    • FGI Guidelines for Outpatient Facilities

    • Department of Health Article 28 regulations

    • Healthcare planning and compliance standards

  • Coordinate healthcare-specific requirements within project designs and documentation

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of architectural experience

  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD

  • Experience preparing commercial construction documents

  • Strong understanding of commercial building systems and shell construction

  • Knowledge of ADA requirements and commercial building codes

  • Ability to coordinate projects from design through construction completion

  • Strong communication and organizational skills

  • Ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced project environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Healthcare or medical facility project experience

  • Knowledge of FGI Guidelines and Department of Health Article 28 regulations
