Reports To: Aquatics Manager
Compensation
Hourly Pay Range: $12.77 - $16.00 per hour
Actual compensation will be based on experience, certifications, qualifications, skills, and business needs.
Position Summary
The Pool Monitor is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming aquatic environment for members and guests. This position helps ensure compliance with safety standards, monitors pool activities, performs routine pool maintenance checks, and delivers exceptional customer service while supporting the overall success of the Aquatics Department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are representative of the position and are not intended to be all-inclusive.
Member Experience
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by greeting members with a welcoming, friendly, and professional attitude.
  • Build positive relationships with members by providing courteous and attentive service.
  • Promote a safe, enjoyable, and family-friendly aquatic environment.
  • Respond professionally to member questions, concerns, and requests.

Safety & Aquatics Operations
  • Monitor the aquatic area to ensure a safe environment for all members and guests.
  • Enforce pool rules and facility policies consistently and professionally.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, emergency response protocols, and aquatic operating guidelines.
  • Exercise sound judgment and respond appropriately during emergencies.
  • Maintain current required certifications and participate in ongoing training.
  • Wear department-approved uniform and appropriate safety attire.

Pool Maintenance & Administration
  • Test and record pool chemistry according to company procedures.
  • Report pool chemistry concerns, equipment issues, and maintenance needs promptly to the Aquatics Manager.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe aquatic environment.
  • Support organized aquatic programs and activities by providing appropriate supervision and instruction when applicable.
  • Participate in department and club meetings.
  • Communicate effectively with the Aquatics Manager and other team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Input and manage your weekly work schedule in the club's scheduling platform by established deadlines, maintaining full accountability for schedule accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to club staffing need

Qualifications
Required
  • Current Lifeguard Certification (or required Pool Monitor certification, if applicable to the position).
  • Current CPR/AED Certification.
  • Strong verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.
  • Ability to remain alert and respond quickly in emergency situations.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills.

Preferred
  • Previous aquatic, recreation, lifeguarding, or customer service experience.
  • Experience working in a fitness, recreation, or hospitality environment.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to remain alert and attentive for extended periods.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and move around the pool deck.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in indoor and outdoor aquatic environments, including exposure to heat, humidity, and pool chemicals.
  • Ability to perform emergency response procedures when necessary.

Work Schedule
This is a part-time or full-time hourly position based on business needs. Flexible availability is required, including mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
