Position Overview
Oversees the aquatic complex. Supervise pool staff, assign staff workload and duties, manage and record fee collection, record daily attendance, maintain records, test and evaluate pool conditions (pH and chlorine), maintain a clean work environment. Ensure the safety of patrons visiting pool.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
(All duties listed may not be included in any one position nor does the list include all tasks found in a position of this class.)
The Pool Manager will supervise and manage the pool staff consisting of lifeguards, swim lesson instructors, and serve as the pool's office supervisor. The Pool Manager will create and implement work hour schedules and duties. The Pool Manager will be responsible for creating and teaching a curriculum for swim lessons. The Manager will be responsible for testing and evaluating pool conditions through the use of a pool testing kit and making sound judgements regarding the introduction of foreign substances into the pool water and will supervise the removal of any foreign substance, implement the appropriate cleaning regime, and close the pool for the regulated amount of time. Lead lifeguard training to ensure proper implementation of facility's emergency action plan. Review lifeguard training skills with guards as required. With aquatic director, lead staff meetings and training sessions.
The pool manager will collect and receipt all pool fees, concession revenue, record daily attendance, and maintain accurate records.
  • Responsible for all operational duties:
    • Opening and closing concession stand and Admissions
    • Opening and Closing out cash registers
    • Monitors and reports inventory levels
  • Opening and closing inspects facilities for general cleanliness
  • Assigns staff duties.
  • Process food deliveries.
  • Take and fill food orders.
  • Ensures staff is properly trained on equipment and operational procedures.
  • Must be able to work weekdays, weeknights, weekends, holidays and split shifts.

Education and Experience

  • General education
  • Must be at least 19 years of age or older
  • Must have life guarding experience.
  • Office management experience a plus.

Knowledge, Skill, and Ability
  • Must have the ability to deal effectively with the general public.
  • Must have the ability to exercise good judgement in a variety of situations.
  • Must possess the ability to understand and follow instructions with little supervision.
  • Must be a self-motivated individual.

  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment physical and drug test.
  • Must be able to swim.
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
  • Must be in good physical condition.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with staff and pool patrons (adult and children).
  • Must attend and lead a TEAM in-service training session.

Certifications or Licenses Required
  • Red Cross or equivalent adult and infant CPR certification and First Aid for the professional rescuer certification.
  • Lifeguard certification required with CPO license a plus.
  • Certification must be on file prior to pool opening.
