Job description

Service Technician in Training
The Service Technician helps homeowners and builders by installing new automatic swimming pool covers and finding and fixing problems on automatic swimming pool covers that are not working the way they are supposed to. They also give price estimates and help customers understand how the equipment works.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Loads/unloads materials and tools from/onto trucks.
  • Cleans up job site after each completed job.
  • Documents all installations and repairs.
  • Teaching customers how to use the equipment properly for pool cover maintenance.
  • Maintains all tools, and equipment used during service appointments.
  • Delivers, installs, upgrades, cleans, maintains, dismantles, and/or repairs poolcovers and related components.
  • Keeps the service truck clean and reports needed maintenance.
  • Performs all work in such a way that it demonstrates a high level of quality service and communication to customers.
  • Confirms services to be performed prior to service appointments.
  • Assists with and learns to conduct tests on equipment to troubleshoot issues.
  • Performs cover cleanings.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Skills and Abilities.

  • High school degree or GED preferred
  • Developing knowledge of pool cover installation and care procedures.
  • Written and verbal communication skills to understand issues customers have and to explain
    technical information to in clear terms.
  • Developing problem-solving skills.
  • Basic time-management skills to handle appointments efficiently and stay on schedule.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure all parts needed tom complete the job are stocked on the service truck
  • Adequate organizational skills.
  • Computer and technical skills to understand the equipment fully.
  • Developing mechanical aptitude and understanding of fitment of materials.
  • Willingness and ability to learn how to install and repair pool covers.
  • Problem-solving skills to figure out what is wrong with system/equipment.
  • For safe and effective job performance, you must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English well enough to work safely and do quality work (read job notes, schedules, part descriptions, and instructions in English)
  • Must be able to safely use protective gear, hand tools, power tools, and other equipment.
  • Must be able to work safely around water deeper than 7 feet.
  • Must be able to notice and avoid hazards at work and work safely.
  • Must wear the company uniform.
  • Must be able to safely lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to handle small parts (like screws) and also move larger items such as pool covers, motors, and boxes.
  • If driving is required, must drive safely and keep a driving record that meets company standards. Must not drive or work while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.


Work Environment

  • Most work is done outside in different weather conditions and temperatures.
  • Work areas may be wet or slippery.
  • Some work is done at construction sites where noise can be loud.
  • Some work may be done in a warehouse.
