Salary Range:

$91,000.00 - $119,000.00

What's the role?

We're looking for a Policy Enforcement Manager to investigate and adjudicate complex policy violations on our marketplace platform. You'll enforce consistently, protect buyers, sellers, and partners from harm, and help us stay ahead of emerging risks. Working alongside key stakeholders, we count on you to align our Trust & Safety ops team on operational readiness for launches, policy rollouts, and enforcement developments. This is an individual contributor role within our global Trust & Safety organization.

This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Manager, Content Compliance. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy.

This role requires your presence in Etsy's Brooklyn Office once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. Candidates living within commutable distance of Etsy's Brooklyn Office Hub may be the first to be considered. Learn more details about our work modes and workplace safety policies here.

What's this team like at Etsy?

Etsy's Content Compliance team sits within our global Trust & Safety organization. We focus on meeting regulatory requirements and making sure the items sold on Etsy don't lead to physical harm. We're looking for a Policy Enforcement Manager to drive enforcement consistency, help us stay ahead of emerging risks, and work alongside key stakeholders to keep our team operationally ready for launches, policy rollouts, and enforcement developments.

What does the day-to-day look like?

  • Own policy enforcement and operations. Develop deep expertise in vertical policies and protocols, manage and report on enforcement activities, and lead implementation when policies, taxonomy, or workflows change.

  • Partner across the business. Drive collaborative projects with Policy, Analytics, Product, Engineering, and Legal - maintaining tight feedback loops and advising on quarterly roadmaps and goals.

  • Lead investigations and escalations. Take point on high-priority cases, coordinate with Legal, Marketing, Comms, and Brand, and rotate on-call to resolve sensitive events as they arise.

  • Surface risks and shape solutions. Spot emerging abuse trends early, conduct data-informed analyses - post-mortems, deep dives - and translate findings into actionable solutions for Product and Engineering partners.

  • Mentor and develop the team. Advise Enforcement Specialists on gray areas, difficult decisions, and their professional growth.

  • Lead a strategic business area. Own one or more focus areas within our Ops vertical - such as policy and workflow expansion, QA and training, process and tooling improvements, or controls and detection.

  • Drive performance and tooling. Monitor operational metrics to meet or exceed KPI and SLA targets, flag anomalies early, and partner with Analytics for reliable reporting. Work with Product and Engineering to sharpen enforcement tools and improve the moderation experience across internal and partner teams.

  • Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law.

Qualities that will help you thrive in this role are:

  • 5+ years of experience in Trust & Safety, policy enforcement, compliance, or risk at a technology or marketplace company

  • Managing cross-functional teams and projects from inception to completion.

  • Ability to collaborate remotely and across geographies, with excellent influencing and communication skills

  • Ability to handle high-stakes situations and manage crisis response effectively.

  • Proficiency in SQL or other data querying tools is a plus

  • Experience with Trust & Safety tooling and platforms is a plus

  • Familiarity with legal or regulatory frameworks relevant to marketplace or platform compliance is a plus
