As a Policy Analyst Intern, you may be involved in tasks such as conducting literature reviews, collecting and analyzing data, preparing policy briefs, and assisting with the development of policy recommendations. You'll often work under the guidance of experienced analysts while collaborating with team members from diverse backgrounds. Interns may also participate in stakeholder meetings, help organize workshops, and contribute to presentations or reports. This hands-on experience helps interns develop a comprehensive understanding of the policy-making process and prepares them for more advanced roles in the field.
A Policy Analyst Intern assists in researching, analyzing, and evaluating policies to support decision-making within an organization. They gather data, review legislation, and prepare reports or presentations on policy issues. Interns may also attend meetings, draft policy briefs, and contribute to discussions on policy development. Their work helps ensure policies align with organizational goals and address relevant societal or governmental issues.
To thrive as a Policy Analyst Intern, you should have strong research, analytical, and written communication skills, typically supported by coursework or experience in public policy, economics, or a related field. Critical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with different teams are important soft skills. These capabilities enable interns to support informed policy recommendations, effectively communicate findings, and contribute to impactful projects.
