Job description

Job Title: Esports Program Assistant
Position Type: Administration
FTE: Full Time
Pay Rate: Grade 6
Job Summary/Basic Functions:
Reports to the Esports Director
  • Recruit and Retain students for the Esports programs
  • Create and implement training programs and practice schedules to enhance team performance
  • Foster a team culture that promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, player growth, and prioritizes academic success
  • Analyze gameplay to identify strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement
  • Stay up-to-date with game patches, meta changes, and strategies to adapt team gameplay
  • Coordinate logistics, travel, and accommodations for team participation in competitions and recruiting
  • Provide mentorship and support to student-athletes, both academically and personally
  • Promote the Esports program within the college and the broader community
  • Coordinate with other coaches, team captains, team managers and administration to ensure the success of the teams and program
  • Assist in the development of the greater Esports program at Brazosport College
  • Assist and Coordinate the Esports Casting team
  • 100% On-Site Presence

Physical Demands:
Able to traverse campus, lifting, carrying, handling, climbing, and balancing; ability to drive to off campus locations.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree required
  • A strong understanding of the competitive Esports scene, including popular esports titles and their meta
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Experience with Esports Casting and/or productions
  • A passion for helping student-athletes succeed academically and athletically
  • Organizational skills to manage schedules, travel, and logistics
  • Coaching experience in competitive gaming is preferred
  • Capacity to collaborate effectively with a diverse community of students, faculty, administrators, and professional colleagues
  • Drivers license and ability to drive a commercial van
  • Ability to coach 2 of the following titles in order of preference: Overwatch, Marvel Rivals, Mariokart, Pokemon Champions and Smash Bros Ultimate
