Full-time

Job description

About Togetherhood
At Togetherhood, we're building something special: a vibrant marketplace where passionate educators meet schools and communities hungry for enrichment. Whether it's arts & crafts, basketball, breakdancing, chess, or STEM, we match talented instructors with opportunities to share their skills and spark joy in the next generation.
Our mission is simple but powerful: "to infuse every community with high quality enrichment and education." We're here to support you in sharing your craft, your voice, and your passion with kids who are ready to learn and grow. If you're a dynamic instructor who loves what you teach and why you teach it, we'd love for you to be part of Togetherhood.
What You'll Do
As a member of our network, you will be matched with opportunities to teach and lead Pokemon games to K-12 students at schools, buildings, and communities across NYC. These teaching opportunities will be for terms that could last anywhere from 6 weeks to 18 weeks.
As an after school instructor, you'll have the following responsibilities:
  • Develop age-appropriate Pokemon curriculum for after-school students. Curriculum should invite students to explore the captivating Pokemon universe through interactive games, creative projects, and strategic challenges.
  • Lead weekly in-person classes with enthusiasm and expertise where students dive into Pokemon lore, learn about types and abilities, and spark their creativity with themed arts and crafts- like designing their own Pokémon cards or inventing new characters. Along the way, they'll practice strategic thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving in a fun and inclusive environment.
  • Establish a well-structured and lively classroom that keeps students engaged
  • Foster a positive, supportive, and encouraging learning environment for students of varying skill levels
  • Build connections with students in a warm and inclusive environment
  • Track student growth and offer positive, helpful feedback
  • Arrive prepared, on time, and ready to teach
  • Create a memorable experience for the children in your class

$90 - $120 an hour
Teachers in the Togetherhood network are paid per class, either flat rate or per-student (determined by the partner school). This is contracted, supplemental 1099 work. There is a separate materials budget for teachers to use for classes requiring one.
How To Apply
  • Click the link and provide a resume showcasing relevant teaching experience
  • If you lack formal teaching experience, please share any other relevant experience or training in the application questionnaire

What to Expect
  • If your resume is a fit, we'll reach out to set up a screening call on Google Meet
  • Candidates advancing from screenings will have a second video interview, in which we will ask you to share a sample lesson plan
  • The final step of the process is onboarding into our platform, ready to accept classes!
