POSITION OVERVIEW

The Afterschool Associate supports the daily operations of the Champions Afterschool All-Stars program by creating a safe, structured, and engaging environment for students during afterschool hours. All Afterschool Associates are required to complete orientation and training. Upon successful completion, staff will be officially cleared to work and assigned to lead a small group within the afterschool enrichment program.

This role works directly with students to support homework completion, enrichment activities, supervision, and positive behavior while upholding the Champions brand, values, and expectations of excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a small group of students in a safe, structured, and engaging environment

  • Assist students with homework, academic enrichment, and guided enrichment activities

  • Support implementation of planned enrichment activities (STEM, arts, sports, leadership, etc.)

  • Maintain active supervision at all times, including transitions, outdoor play, and dismissal

  • Foster positive relationships with students through encouragement, consistency, and clear expectations

  • Model professional behavior and uphold program rules, routines, and safety procedures

  • Assist with snack distribution and ensure cleanliness of activity areas

  • Communicate effectively with site leadership regarding student needs, incidents, or concerns

  • Support classroom setup, cleanup, and daily program organization

  • Adhere to all state licensing requirements, program policies, and Champions Academy standards

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Prior experience working with children required

  • Access to a reliable vehicle and a valid driver’s license

  • Ability to manage and lead a small group of students

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and classroom management skills

  • Dependable, punctual, and professional in appearance and conduct

Compliance & Physical Requirements

  • Must pass background check and fingerprinting as required by state licensing

  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain within required timeframe)

  • Ability to stand, walk, and actively supervise children for extended periods

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs as needed

Work Schedule

  • Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM–6PM

  • Additional hours may be available for early release days, camps, or special events
