Summary of the role 

The project manager is responsible for the proper execution of the projects under the responsibility of the Project Director, within the budgeted deadlines and costs, and to the satisfaction of the client.

The following responsibilities form the core of this role in our team.

Ultimately responsible for the proper completion of projects under their supervision, done on schedule, on budget and to the customer's satisfaction.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Structures the launching of new projects, evaluates the risks, sets financial objectives and the operating strategy, and implements an efficient internal and external communication plan;
  • Responsible for defining a technical strategy and a supply plan in collaboration with the System Engineer and the Procurement Department;
  • With all the other departments involved, develops the general and detailed planning and coordination of all the activities required to meet established contractual and financial objectives;
  • Ensures a follow-up and compliance with contractual obligations, technical specifications, quality and health & safety standards from Engineering, Procurement and at Site, as well as the timely performance of all activities related to each project under the Project Director's supervision;
  • Organizes team meetings, prepares the minutes and defines the actions for the team during the execution of the project;
  • In collaboration with the Commercial Manager, analyzes and prepares all the documentation related to the project reviews with management;
  • Performs a risk & opportunity evaluation and details the possible financial variances regarding the established objectives while suggesting a contingency plan to correct any potential situation;
  • In collaboration with the Commercial Manager and System Engineer, analyzes, defines and implements a contingency plan to correct any failure or inadequacy that can have a direct impact on the results of the project (costs, schedule, quality...);
  • With the support of the Commercial Manager, prepares and negotiates customer claims;
  • Ensures the proper close-out of a project once activities are completed.

  • Minimum of eight (8) years' experience in the field of project management in heavy industry projects (experience in hydroelectricity or energy producing equipment and related manufacturing activities an asset);
  • Proven experience and accomplishments related to the efficient management of projects with an inherent complexity and an accelerated schedule;
  • Proven leadership and team spirit, innovative;
  • Excellent listening skills as well English verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in French (an asset);
  • Availability to travel, as necessary;
  • Bachelor of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (an asset);
  • PMP Certificate (an asset).
