Job description

Job Title: Journeyman Plumber
Primary Function: We are seeking an experienced Plumber to become an integral part of our team! Must be licensed to work in commercial and industrial setting. Must have the ability to decipher engineers concepts into plans for construction. Will perform copper soldering procedures, execute layouts, implement code requirements and attend progress and scheduling meetings. Must have required tools and be able to pass drug and back ground screening requirements for employment consideration. Pay is based on level of experience.
Job Type: Full-time; Hourly
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following: Other duties may be assigned.
  • Assemble pipe sections, tubing and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing and welding equipment.
  • Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks.
  • Review blueprints and building codes and specifications to determine work details and procedures.
  • Study building plans and inspect structures to assess material and equipment needs, to establish the sequence of pipe installations, and to plan installation around obstructions such as electrical wiring.
  • Keep records of assignments and produce detailed work reports.
  • Perform complex calculations and planning for special or very large jobs.
  • Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes, and fixtures in structures, using measuring instruments such as rulers and levels.
  • Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required angle, using hand and power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines, and pipe-bending machines.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to understand directions and proficient in reading blueprints
  • Ability to solve mathematical problems quickly and accurately
  • Ability to properly care for and use tools of the trade
  • Works well independently or as part of a team
  • Time-Management abilities
  • Understanding of long-term project management

Education and/or Experience
  • High School Degree or Equivalent
  • Journeyman Plumber License Holder
  • A minimum of 5 years to 10 years of experience via on-the-job training required

Language Skills
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret blueprints using English language
  • Ability to respond effectively to inquiries or complaints
  • Ability to work individually or as a team to complete projects

Physical Demands:
  • Prolonged periods standing, climbing, bending, and kneeling
  • Must be comfortable and able to safely work with sharp tools and power equipment
  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and terrains
  • Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and excellent hand-eye coordination
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision; distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
  • Subject to variable weather conditions inside and outside of buildings
  • Ability to work at various heights that can be several floors high

Work Environment:
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at office and construction job sites
  • Must use safety equipment (PPE) where warranted. The noise level in the work environment and job sites is usually loud
