Equipment Reliability Specialist 

The Equipment Reliability Specialist is responsible for executing inspections, corrective maintenance, repairs, and refurbishment activities on industrial tunnel washer systems throughout the ImageFIRST network. As a subject matter expert on tunnel systems, this role is focused on improving equipment reliability, extending asset life, and maximizing operational uptime. The Equipment Reliability Specialist performs advanced mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical troubleshooting while supporting standardized maintenance practices across all facilities.

Due to the critical nature of tunnel systems, this position primarily performs maintenance during non-production hours, including nights and weekends, to minimize operational disruption. The Equipment Reliability Specialist travels extensively to ImageFIRST facilities nationwide, collaborates with local maintenance teams, and ensures tunnel systems are fully operational and production-ready before the start of each production shift

Key Responsibilities

The Equipment Reliability Specialist will deliver results across the following key areas:

1. Safety & Work Environment

• Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas before, during, and after maintenance activities.
• Properly utilize and maintain required tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Ensure all repairs meet company quality standards and manufacturer specifications.
• Promote a culture of safety and accountability while working independently and alongside facility maintenance teams.

2. Equipment Reliability, Maintenance & Repair

• Perform corrective maintenance on industrial tunnel washer systems.
• Execute planned refurbishment activities, including rebuilding and replacing mechanical components.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment failures.
• Install, replace, and align components including bearings, chains, sprockets, shafts, motors, gearboxes, rollers, cylinders, valves, conveyors, and other tunnel system components.
• Conduct equipment inspections to identify wear, damage, and developing reliability concerns before failures occur.
• Restore tunnel systems to safe, reliable operating condition within scheduled maintenance windows.
• Perform functional testing to verify proper equipment operation before returning systems to production.

3. Reliability & Operational Support

• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and extend equipment life.
• Assist in implementing standardized repair methods, maintenance procedures, and best practices across the ImageFIRST network.
• Report recurring equipment failures and recommend permanent corrective actions.
• Support emergency repair activities as needed to minimize operational disruptions.
• Collaborate closely with local maintenance, engineering, and production teams to complete projects efficiently while maintaining production schedules.

4. Documentation & Systems (CMMS)

• Accurately document completed work orders, labor hours, inspections, repair findings, and recommendations within the company's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
• Communicate repair status, equipment condition, and follow-up recommendations to the Tunnel Reliability Lead Technician and facility leadership.
• Complete maintenance documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
• Participate in post-maintenance reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

5. Travel & Resource Management

• Travel extensively to ImageFIRST facilities as required to support scheduled maintenance, emergency repairs, inspections, and refurbishment projects.
• Maintain company-issued tools and equipment in proper working condition.
• Assist with identifying parts requirements and support inventory planning for reliability projects.
• Maintain flexibility to support changing maintenance schedules, business priorities, overnight travel, and weekend work.

6. Continuous Improvement & Technical Expertise

• Serve as a technical resource for tunnel washer reliability and maintenance best practices.
• Share technical knowledge and mentor local maintenance personnel when appropriate.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment performance, maintenance efficiency, and reliability.
• Stay current on equipment technology, repair techniques, and manufacturer recommendations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical school, trade certification, or equivalent industrial maintenance training preferred.
• Five (5)+ years of industrial maintenance experience with demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting and repairing industrial equipment.
• Experience maintaining industrial tunnel washers, conveyors, or other large automated production equipment strongly preferred.
• Advanced mechanical troubleshooting skills with working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and technical manuals.
• Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while supporting multiple facilities.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively (up to 75-100%) throughout the United States.
• Ability to work overnight, weekend, and non-production maintenance schedules as required.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
