Job Description
The University of Maine at Farmington (UMF) is seeking a skilled Master Plumber to perform primarily non-routine work driven by service calls and a variety of assigned projects. You will be responsible for maintaining mechanical systems by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting operational issues, and installing or inspecting systems. At this level, you will understand the full scope of the plumbing trade and communicate with other University staff to schedule and plan projects.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Pay and Benefits: Pay is $29.92 per hour. The University of Maine at Farmington offers highly competitive benefits for full-time employees that include (but is not limited to):

Responsibilities:
  • System Maintenance: Perform skilled work in plumbing operations, including inspecting, installing, and troubleshooting water and waste lines for a wide variety of equipment.
  • Specialized Installation: Install, repair, and test valves, sump pumps, water circulators, and backflow preventors.
  • Piping & Fabrication: Install and repair piping for gas, air, vacuum, and sprinkler systems; fabricate plumbing parts and work with underground sewage piping.
  • Operational Control: Respond to a full range of service calls and administer the full scope of repairs using all applicable tools and materials.
  • Coordination: Schedule repairs and maintenance with various University departments and other skilled trade teams.
  • Technical Literacy: Read blueprints and piping diagrams to guide installation and repair work.
  • Inventory & Documentation: Requisition supplies from stockrooms or vendors and maintain detailed operational records and logs.

Required Qualifications:
  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
  • Experience & Licensing: At least three (3) years of related experience and a State of Maine licensed Master Plumber.
  • Valid Driver's License (based on UMS standards)
