Job description

VP of Sales & Business Development

Build the Sales Engine. Take Market Share. Win on Value.

Competitive executive compensation and performance-based upside aligned to market share growth.

The Opportunity

This is a take-the-market role.

Autocar is positioned to win in the refuse and environmental services industry with products that compete on performance, safety, reliability, and total lifecycle cost. We have strong customer relationships and a clear foothold in the market. What we are enhancing now is the sales engine to scale that advantage and systematically displace entrenched competitors through a differentiated, value-based approach rather than price-driven sales.

Central to our strategy is a results-driven Vice President of Sales and Business Development to lead that effort. You will define how we go to market, how we execute, and how we win consistently. The ideal candidate will be a structured, operationally rigorous leader, with a track record of building and managing elite sales teams, executing complex go-to-market strategies, and leading through processes, not personality. This is a high-visibility, high-impact position suited for a leader who is looking to build, compete, take meaningful market share-and be rewarded for doing it.

What You Will Own

  • Market Share Growth: You will lead the strategy and execution required to aggressively capture competitor-held accounts and expand long-standing customer relationships through structured, value-based selling.
  • Sales Organization Build-Out: You will develop and lead a high-performance field-based sales and business development team to improve win rates, pipeline quality, and overall performance, establishing clear expectations around KPIs, quotas, territories, and accountability. Your impact comes from driving process, execution, and accountability from the center.
  • Sales Process & Operating Discipline: You will implement a proven sales methodology and bring rigor to pipeline management, forecasting accuracy, and CRM discipline, creating a system that leadership can rely on.
  • Revenue Execution: You will own the full revenue lifecycle from demand generation through deal execution, long-term contracts, and account expansion, including complex negotiations and RFPs.
  • Market Expansion: You will identify and open new verticals, fleet accounts, municipalities, and strategic partners for market expansion.

Who You Are

  • You bring 10+ years of senior-level sales and business development experience, with 5+ years of experience in industrial or technical sales, refuse, environmental services, or a closely related industry.
  • You have a track record of taking market share from legacy players through structured sales execution and differentiated value selling.
  • You have built structure, process, and accountability where it did not previously exist.
  • You have successfully led field-based teams by driving process, accountability, and execution from a central leadership role.
  • You have a bachelor's degree (MBA or technical background preferred).
  • You are willing to relocate to our flagship facility in Birmingham, Alabama. Travel is focused on key customers, strategic initiatives, and leadership alignment-not day-to-day field selling activity (purposeful and targeted at ~50%).
