DUTIES:Assist the Director of Planning in the administration of the Planning Department function according to the requirements of the Borough Home Rule Charter, Borough Code and Alaska StatutesReview and recommend Code amendments as neededAssist Administration in Planning, Platting and Zoning AuthorityAdminister Title 9 PermitsProvide written and verbal reports to the Mayor, Assembly, Planning Director and Planning Commission on a regular basis and upon requestOversees and implements Planning Department services and functions including but not limited to, permit coordination, record keeping, and reviews, village flood map updates, and community outreach and educationPrepare and submit Comment Letters on projects as needed that impact the Northwest Arctic BoroughAbility to travel as neededPerform other duties as assignedMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:High School Diploma or GEDA College Degree in Planning, Public Administration, Natural Resources, Rural Development, Environmental Sciences, Engineering or a related field of study appropriate for planning activities with local Experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basisAssist in seeking funding for Planning Department servicesTechnical writing experienceBe able to consistently interpret Borough Code and State Statutes and adhere to specified regulationsPossess knowledge of the Borough communitiesTrained in Arc GIS and/or AutoCAD and/or surveying and/or willing to learnHave the ability to communicate effectively with residents of the Northwest Arctic Borough
