In this full-time role, you will work under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist, providing essential support in optimizing patient recovery in an outpatient setting. This is an excellent opportunity to engage in a variety of therapeutic practices, offering hands-on care that makes a tangible difference in the lives of patients.

About the Organization

Function Better Physical Therapy Services has established itself as a leading provider of orthopedic outpatient physical therapy over the last 22 years, earning a 5-star rating and an exemplary clinical reputation in both the medical community and among patients. Our organization is led by a combat veteran, an accomplished author, and an inventor with 30 years of clinical experience in physical therapy. We prioritize individualized patient care and foster a strong culture of teamwork and mentorship, ensuring every team member grows in their professional journey.

Work Environment

You will be working on-site at a hospital facility located in Hempstead, NY, which is a vibrant community known for its diverse patient population who often seek physical therapy due to various orthopedic conditions and rehabilitation needs. The workplace features state-of-the-art equipment and resources, allowing for a functional approach to therapy that integrates the latest evidence-based practices. Our team-oriented environment encourages collaboration among Physical Therapists, Nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to collectively enhance patient care and rehabilitation outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in implementing the individualized Plan of Care developed by the supervising Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), focusing on targeted rehabilitation goals.
  • Administer hands-on manual therapy and therapeutic exercises, adjusting techniques based on real-time patient feedback and progress.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation of patient treatment, progress, and outcomes in accordance with established billing practices and regulatory guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, which may include occupational therapists, physicians, and nursing staff, to ensure comprehensive care for each patient.
  • Adhere to state and federal regulations governing patient care and documentation to ensure optimal compliance and quality assurance in therapy services.
Patient Population / Client Focus

The ideal candidate will work primarily with a diverse patient population recovering from injuries, surgeries, or chronic conditions, focusing on orthopedic cases. Our patients range from athletes recovering from sports injuries to individuals undergoing rehabilitation after surgeries such as joint replacements. The PTA role is critical for implementing evidence-based interventions and educating patients on self-management strategies to accelerate their recovery and improve their mobility.

Qualifications
  • Must possess a valid New York State Licensure for Physical Therapy Assistants.
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy or a related field from an accredited institution is required.
  • Must be comfortable working with diverse patient populations and possess a hands-on, compassionate approach to therapy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members to ensure clarity of care objectives and patient progress.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage a caseload, adhere to schedules, and document patient care efficiently.
Preferred Experience
  • A history of manual therapy techniques and implementation of functional rehabilitation strategies is highly desirable.
  • Prior experience in a clinical or outpatient setting will strengthen your application; however, we are willing to provide training for motivated candidates.
  • Sales or marketing experience related to healthcare services is a plus, as it aligns with our focus on developing relationships in the community.
Compensation and Benefits

The salary for this position ranges from USD 50,000 to 60,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Additionally, we offer:

  • Health, dental, and vision insurance provided by BCBS.
  • Paid Time Off totaling 120 hours annually, inclusive of major holidays.
  • A generous Continuing Medical Education (CME) allowance of $1,000, with no limit on days.
  • A 401(k) plan with a 4% company match to support your retirement savings.
