Job description

Physical Therapist (PRN → Part-Time → Full-Time)

Build Your Career in Sports Physical Therapy

This role is ideal for clinicians who aspire to specialize in treating runners and active adults—not just work another outpatient orthopedic job. Through direct mentorship with the practice owner and hands-on experience, you'll develop the clinical, communication, and business skills needed to thrive in a sports physical therapy private practice.

Valiant Physical Therapy is a sports physical therapy private practice in Evanston, Illinois, specializing in helping runners and active adults overcome injuries, improve performance, and stay active for life.

We're looking for a motivated Physical Therapist who wants more than just another clinic job. This position starts as a flexible PRN contractor role with a clearly defined pathway to Part-Time and eventually Full-Time employment as you grow your patient caseload and demonstrate excellence in patient care, professionalism, and business development.

Whether you're looking to supplement your current schedule or build a long-term career in private practice, we'll help you get there.

Mentorship & Professional Development

This role is ideal for someone who wants to accelerate their growth as both a clinician and a future private practice professional.

You'll receive direct mentorship from the owner on:

  • Evaluating and treating runners and endurance athletes
  • Running gait analysis
  • Exercise prescription and return-to-running progressions
  • Clinical reasoning for orthopedic sports injuries
  • Sales and communication skills that help patients commit to their care
  • Private practice operations and business development

If you've ever wanted to learn what it actually takes to build a successful sports physical therapy practice, you'll gain hands-on experience that most clinics simply don't offer.

What Makes This Position Different

  • 60-minute, one-on-one patient appointments
  • Mentorship directly from the practice owner
  • Learn how to evaluate and treat runners with confidence
  • Develop expertise in sports physical therapy and return-to-running rehabilitation
  • Learn private practice sales and patient communication skills—not just clinical care
  • Flexible schedule that grows with you from PRN to Part-Time to Full-Time
  • Opportunities to participate in community events, workshops, and running groups

What You'll Do

  • Evaluate and treat orthopedic and sports-related injuries using one-on-one, 60-minute appointments
  • Create individualized treatment plans focused on helping patients return to the activities they love
  • Educate patients and build long-term relationships through exceptional care
  • Participate in community marketing events and represent Valiant Physical Therapy throughout the North Shore
  • Collaborate with our team to continually improve the patient experience and grow the practice

What We're Looking For

  • Licensed Physical Therapist (or eligible for licensure) in Illinois
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for helping active adults and athletes
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and eager to learn
  • Comfortable representing the practice at community events

Bonus (not required, but highly preferred):

  • Runner, triathlete, or endurance athlete
  • Experience working with runners or sports injuries
  • Interest in strength training, endurance sports, or performance rehabilitation
