Peterson Farms Fresh Inc. is a state-of-the-art fresh-cut facility specializing in apples, carefully preserving their quality so only the best reach the fresh-cut line. The company’s “Peterson Fresh” apples highlight its focus on freshness and consistency. Peterson Farms Inc. is also a national marketing leader in frozen fruits, handling over 150 million finished pounds of frozen products annually, along with millions of gallons of apple juice and concentrates. Core products include apples, tart cherries, sweet cherries, and cultivated blueberries, providing a stable and growing environment for team members.
Role Description The Purchasing Agent is a full-time, on-site role based in Hart, MI, responsible for managing day-to-day purchasing and procurement activities to support production and operations. This role includes preparing and processing purchase orders, sourcing and evaluating suppliers, and monitoring inventory levels to ensure timely availability of materials and services. The Purchasing Agent will negotiate contracts and pricing, maintain vendor relationships, and resolve order discrepancies in collaboration with internal departments. Additional responsibilities include tracking costs, maintaining accurate purchasing records, supporting budget and forecast activities, and ensuring compliance with company policies and food industry standards. The role interacts regularly with production, quality, logistics, and finance teams to support efficient and cost-effective operations.
Qualifications
  • Candidates should possess strong Purchasing and Procurement skills, including supplier sourcing and cost analysis.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Purchase Orders and Contract Negotiation to manage agreements and ensure favorable terms.
  • Candidates should possess Customer Service skills to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
  • Relevant experience in manufacturing, food processing, or supply chain operations is beneficial.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and time management abilities, with attention to detail and accuracy.
